Turn YouTube videos into English listening practice. Sayover lets you save the sentences you want to keep with a single key, then review them with spaced repetition until they stick. Built for English learners whose native language is Korean or Japanese. ■ How you learn 1. Listen — Sayover shows one line of English captions over the video. The translation stays hidden: guess the meaning first. 2. Check — Stuck? Press T to peek at the translation in your language. Pause with Space and the current sentence and its translation open under the caption. Turn on P and the video pauses at the end of every sentence. 3. Save — Press S on a sentence you want to keep. Sayover saves it with the lines around it, the translation and the moment in the video. 4. Review — Saved sentences come back on a spaced-repetition schedule (FSRS, an algorithm that shows a card again right before you'd forget it). First hear the scene again with no captions, then press Enter to see the sentence, then the translation, and rate how well you recalled it (A, S, D or F) to set the next review. ■ Features · A minimal caption overlay — one English line while the video plays; translation only when you ask · Pause panel — the current sentence and its translation, plus British/American differences (e.g. lift (UK) = elevator (US)) · Auto-pause (P) — stop at the end of each sentence and listen one sentence at a time; very short ones like "Yeah." are skipped · Shortcuts: S save / T translation / ←·→ previous·next line / R repeat / P auto-pause · Video analysis — British or American English and difficulty (word level, speech rate) worked out from the captions and shown in your saved list; choose British or American as your base English · Saved list — group by video, channel, learning state, English variety or level; search; review one group; open the exact scene · Booklet per video — the sentences you saved from one video, in video order, to print or save as a PDF (for personal study) · Learning state — cards you have remembered for a long time are marked "Known" automatically (they still come back at long intervals); take a card out of review when you no longer need it · A review panel that replays just the saved clip in the YouTube tab, up to 15 new cards a day · Backup export and import (JSON) · Interface in English, Korean and Japanese ■ No account. Stays in your browser. · No sign-up. Your learning data is stored only in your browser and is never sent anywhere. · Translations are made on your device with Chrome's built-in translation feature. · No ads, no analytics, no tracking. · Removing the extension deletes your saved data too, so export a backup from your saved list regularly. ■ Good to know · Works on videos with English captions (uploaded or auto-generated). Shorts are not supported. · Where on-device translation is unavailable, or auto-generated captions have no punctuation, Sayover uses YouTube's auto-translated captions (Korean and Japanese). · British/American detection reads the caption text, not the speaker's accent. Auto-generated captions are often "Hard to tell". · This is a beta.
