)Overview
Inspects and displays the server modification date for the current page and downloaded files.
Page & Download Date Checker is a lightweight, privacy-focused developer and utility tool designed to retrieve the actual server modification date (Last-Modified HTTP header) of the web pages you visit and the files you download. Whether you are a web developer verifying cache invalidation, a researcher checking the freshness of a source, or just a curious user, this extension provides accurate metadata directly from the server without injecting scripts into the pages you browse. ✨ KEY FEATURES Page Date Inspector: Click the extension icon to instantly fetch and display the Last-Modified date of the current active tab. It intelligently ignores system pages and Chrome Web Store pages to prevent errors. Download Analyzer: Whenever you start a download, the extension automatically queries the source server in the background. It triggers a native system notification displaying the clean file name, the readable file size, and the server's modification date. Smart History: Keeps a local, easily accessible list of your last 5 downloads directly in the popup interface. Quick Copy: Easily copy the original download URL of any recent file to your clipboard with a single click. Auto-Cleanup: The extension respects your privacy. If you clear your native Chrome download history, the extension's local history is automatically wiped as well. Fully Accessible: Built with strict adherence to WCAG accessibility standards, featuring full screen-reader support, optimized touch targets, and high-contrast elements. 🔒 PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS JUSTIFICATION To ensure maximum transparency for our users and the Chrome Web Store review team, here is exactly why we request the following permissions: activeTab: Used strictly to get the URL of the current webpage only when the user explicitly clicks the extension action. We do not track browsing history. <all_urls>: Essential for performing a lightweight fetch() (HEAD method) in the background service worker. This is required to read the Last-Modified and Content-Length HTTP headers across different domains without being blocked by CORS policies. downloads: Required to detect the onCreated event when a new file download begins, and the onErased event to clear the extension's local history when the user clears their browser data. notifications: Used solely to display the server date and file size to the user when a download is detected. storage: Used to locally store the metadata (Name, Size, Date, URL) of the last 5 downloaded files. This data never leaves the user's browser. No analytics, no tracking, and no external code execution.
