Overview

Filter unwanted authors and organize your local blocklist with tags. Currently supports the Zhihu home feed.

Cocoon filters content by author and keeps your local blocklist organized with tags. Currently supports the Zhihu home feed. Less noise. More choice. Some authors keep appearing long after you have lost interest. Instead of scrolling past them again, make a choice beside the content: click ×, pick a tag, and let Cocoon hide matching content on supported pages. No Cocoon account to create. No dashboard to configure before you start. Just one author, one tag, and a feed that feels a little more like yours. BLOCK AN AUTHOR, NOT JUST ONE CARD Cocoon is a local-first content filter. You choose the authors you do not want to see; it hides their matching content and keeps filtering as new items appear. This release supports cards in the Zhihu home feed, plus comments and replies opened from that feed. Author matching uses stable identifiers, not just display names, so two people sharing a name are not treated as the same person. A BLOCKLIST YOU CAN ACTUALLY ORGANIZE Name tags in a way that makes sense to you: “Not for now,” “Repeated recommendations,” or your own categories. • Pick an existing tag or create one while blocking an author. • Search local authors and tags when you want to revisit a choice. • Use the management page to filter by tag or platform category and sort by first-blocked time. • Remove one author or select several for bulk removal. • Rename and delete custom tags as your categories change. • Export a JSON backup, or import one by merging it with your list or replacing your current records. Your blocklist is something you can maintain—not a list that can only get longer. SEE WHAT CHANGED. CORRECT A MISTAKE. Open the toolbar popup to check page status and see how many cards, comments, and replies Cocoon has hidden during the current page session. That count reflects hidden page items, not the number of blocked authors. The popup also offers quick search and local removal. After removing a block in the popup, you have eight seconds to undo that removal; closing the popup ends the undo window. This is not an undo for an initial block and does not reverse account-level actions on Zhihu. LOCAL FILTERING AND ZHIHU ACCOUNT BLOCKING ARE DIFFERENT By default, Cocoon blocks authors locally. The tag drawer offers two independent, optional Zhihu actions: • Block the selected author on Zhihu: changes your signed-in account's real blocklist for the one author you directly selected. • Hide voters of this content: reads the selected content's voters or likers and adds eligible authors to Cocoon's local blocklist. It does not remotely block those voters on Zhihu. Both options are off by default and remember saved choices. Selecting or creating a tag authorizes whichever options are currently enabled, without a second confirmation. Check the options before submitting. Voter results depend on what Zhihu returns and its access limits; a complete voter list is not guaranteed. Removing a local record or uninstalling Cocoon does not reverse a completed Zhihu account-level block. Manage those blocks on Zhihu itself. GET STARTED IN THREE STEPS 1. Install Cocoon, then open or refresh https://www.zhihu.com/. 2. Click × on a supported feed card to open the tag drawer. 3. Check the optional actions, then select or create a tag to save the local block. Use the toolbar popup for quick checks, or open the full management page to organize your list. LOCAL STORAGE, HONEST NETWORK DISCLOSURE Author and tag records are stored locally by the extension. This version has no developer-operated data server, cloud sync, advertising, analytics, or telemetry. It does not upload your full local blocklist to the developer. Local-first does not mean fully offline. Identity resolution may automatically query Zhihu. Enabled voter lookups and account-level actions also contact Zhihu using your existing signed-in session; account-level blocking uses an anti-forgery token. Exported backups contain author and tag data. Keep them secure and do not post real backups publicly. CURRENT SUPPORT AND LIMITS Cocoon is designed for author-based content filtering and local blocklist management on supported websites. This release supports only the Zhihu home feed—not answer pages, article pages, or other websites. Platform categories in imported records do not mean those websites are supported. The extension interface is currently in Chinese. Cocoon is not a keyword filter and does not take over or change Zhihu's recommendation algorithm. Changes to the website or its APIs may affect functionality. This is an independent open-source project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by Zhihu.
