DM Tray

A session clipboard for dungeon masters: clip rules, NPCs and read-aloud text from any page, then run your game from one tray.

DM Tray is a session clipboard for online dungeon masters, living in Chrome's side panel. While you prep across any number of tabs (rulebooks, wikis, your own notes), you clip the pieces you will need at the table: rule excerpts, NPC stat blocks, read-aloud text, loot lists, image references. On game night you run everything from one panel that stays put while you switch tabs. Key features: - Right-click any selected text and choose "DM Tray: clip"; the clip lands in the active session with an auto title and a guessed type tag (rule, npc, read-aloud, loot, other) that you can always edit - Right-click an image to clip its URL (only the URL is stored, never the image itself) - Named sessions ("Curse of the Kraken, ep. 4") with drag-to-reorder so clips follow your running order - Collapse and expand clips as you play, and tick clips as used so they dim and strike through - "Copy for chat" formats clips for virtual tabletop chat: read-aloud text gets a /desc prefix, rules become a quoted block, images copy the bare URL - Search across all sessions, so a half-remembered rule from a previous game is one keystroke away - A built-in dice roller (2d6+3, d20, 4d8-1) with individual dice, totals, and your last 10 rolls - Export the active session as JSON and import it back; imports never overwrite existing sessions, so files are safe to share with a co-DM What it does not do: DM Tray needs no account and injects nothing into web pages. All clips and sessions are stored locally in the browser's extension storage. The only network requests the extension makes are license checks against the Lemon Squeezy licensing API (see Pricing below). One nuance: image clips store a URL, and Chrome fetches that URL when the panel displays the thumbnail, exactly as an ordinary web page would. Pricing: DM Tray is free to install and requires a $5 one-time license purchased through Lemon Squeezy. Activate once with your license key; the extension re-checks it periodically and includes a 7-day offline grace period, so a spotty connection never locks you out mid-session. Existing clips always remain readable and exportable, even without a license.
