Narrazen is a high-fidelity, on-device text-to-speech reader for the modern web. Built with design restraint, typographical sensitivity, and obsessive craft, Narrazen transforms longform articles, essays, research papers, and documentation into calm, human-grade narration. Unlike conventional robotic screen readers or cloud-dependent subscription services, Narrazen runs a neural voice engine directly inside your browser. Your reading material never leaves your computer, your habits are never tracked, and narration continues uninterrupted even when offline. CRAFT & LISTENING EXPERIENCE • Natural Neural Prosody: Hear text spoken with human-like breathing room, natural rhythm, and emotional cadence. • 100% On-Device & Private: Every sentence is synthesized locally via WebGPU and WebAssembly. Webpage text, selections, and URLs are never sent to external servers or cloud TTS APIs. • Synchronized Editorial Highlighting: Follow along effortlessly with whisper-soft sentence and word highlighting powered by Chrome's native CSS Custom Highlight API. • Interactive Click-to-Seek: Click any sentence directly on the webpage to immediately jump narration to that exact phrase. • The Cadence Player: A compact, glassmorphic floating player (368×44px) with Obsidian controls, tabular timer indicators, voice and speed controls (0.75× to 2×), and a 2px Terracotta progress bar. • The Listening Pill: Minimize the player into an ultra-compact 96×32px floating pill that docks gracefully in any corner while you read or browse. • Targeted Selection Reading: Highlight any sentence or excerpt to reveal the Obsidian reading tooltip or right-click to read only what you chose. • Clean Content Extraction: Automatically strips advertisement noise, sidebars, navigation headers, and code snippets, focusing purely on narrative prose. • Complete Offline Independence: After initial static voice engine preparation, Narrazen works entirely without an internet connection. HOW TO USE NARRAZEN 1. Navigate to any article, news story, or essay. 2. Press Alt+K (Option+K on macOS) or click the Narrazen extension icon to begin listening immediately. 3. Click any sentence on the page to seek directly to that point in the article. 4. Drag the player handle to position the player anywhere, or click it to dock in screen corners. 5. Highlight any excerpt and click "Read selection" to hear only that specific passage. PRIVACY BY ARCHITECTURE Narrazen is designed around absolute local custody: • Zero tracking, telemetry, or behavioral analytics. • Zero server-side text processing or audio generation. • No account creation or subscriptions required. • Reading preferences and progress are stored strictly in your browser's private local storage.
