NanoMD
Overview
Render Markdown files in Chrome with NanoMD.
NanoMD turns local Markdown files into clean, readable pages right in Chrome. Open a .md or .markdown file from your computer and you see formatted content instead of raw text. WHAT IT RENDERS • Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, strikethrough, highlight, subscript and superscript • Ordered, unordered, nested and task lists • GFM tables with column alignment • Blockquotes and GitHub-style alerts (Note, Tip, Important, Warning, Caution) • Footnotes and reference links • Code blocks with syntax highlighting and a one-click copy button • Mermaid diagrams • Math with KaTeX, both inline ($...$) and block • Chart.js charts from JSON config • Images, videos, and YouTube / Vimeo embeds WHY NANOMD • Zero setup: install it, then open any Markdown file • Lightweight: built on the NanoMD parser, a small TypeScript Markdown engine • Fully offline: all rendering libraries are bundled with the extension • Safe output: text and attributes are escaped, and raw HTML, links and URLs are sanitized • If a diagram, formula or chart has a syntax error, it shows as a plain code block instead of breaking the page HOW TO USE 1. Install the extension. 2. Open chrome://extensions, find NanoMD, open Details, and turn on "Allow access to file URLs". 3. Open any .md or .markdown file from your computer (drag it into Chrome or use Ctrl/Cmd + O). PRIVACY NanoMD does not collect, store or transmit any data. Your files are read and rendered in your browser, and the extension makes no network requests of its own. Open source: https://github.com/pardnchiu/NanoMD
