Found a chess position in an article, a study page or a paused video? Select the board and turn it into a position you can review and analyse. ScanChess shows the recognized board and its FEN in a card on the same page. Check the pieces and the side to move, correct anything that needs attention, then copy FEN or open the position in Lichess or Chess.com. • Select a board on the current page, or right-click a visible board image. • Review and correct the recognized position before analysis. • Flip the board and choose White or Black to move. • Copy FEN, save a corrected position, or continue in the website editor. • Use your ScanChess website account and credit balance. Installation is free. A registered ScanChess account is required, and each board recognition uses 1 credit. The extension connects to your website account; you do not need a separate extension account. The browser extension focuses on webpage chess boards. For handwritten scoresheets and PGN transcription, use scanchess.com. Capture is limited to visible content on ordinary webpages. Pause videos first. Browser settings, extension stores and other protected pages cannot be captured. Recognition can make mistakes: always review the board before using the position. For study and post-game review, not live-game assistance or automatic moves. Images are captured only when you start a scan and are cropped locally before recognition.
