RealView - Engaged Views for YouTube Studio

Shows Engaged Views, the old 30-second view metric, across YouTube Studio in place of the raw count. Paints the charts red.

YouTube changed what counts as a view. A view is now counted the moment playback starts, instead of after about 30 seconds of watching. The stricter old definition still exists in YouTube Studio under the name "engaged views", but it is buried, and every screen leads with the new number. RealView swaps them round. Open Studio and the figures read in engaged views wherever they used to read in raw ones. [What it changes] • The headline figure on channel and video analytics, its comparison, and the chart • The tables underneath, including the percentage columns beside them • The realtime card for the last 48 hours, with its hourly chart and top videos • The dashboard summary, top content, and the latest video's figures • The view count next to each video on the Content tab • Breakdowns by traffic source, country, device and search term The numbers will be lower than you are used to. They leave out people who clicked away in the first few seconds. [How it behaves] RealView asks YouTube's own analytics service for the engaged figures and shows them instead of the raw ones. It does not invent numbers. When a figure cannot be converted, the wording stays as YouTube wrote it, so a raw count is never labelled as an engaged one. The label always matches the number under it. While engaged views are showing, the graphs are red, so you can tell which numbers you are looking at. You can turn the colour off, or turn the extension off, from the toolbar button.
