Overview

Screenshots and screen recording, all on your machine. Grab a region or full page, record your screen to video. Nothing uploaded.

Nabshot is a screenshot tool and a screen recorder, and it is genuinely both. Nab a still, or record a reel: that is where the name comes from, and neither half is an afterthought. Every frame is processed and stored on your own computer, and nothing is ever uploaded. Three of the seven modes record video: your whole screen, a region you drag, or the current tab with a cursor highlight. The other four are screenshots: the visible tab, a region you drag, the full scrolling page, or a still of any monitor, window, or app. Recording in full: pick any monitor, window, or tab, record to WebM or MP4, mix in system audio and your microphone, pause and resume mid-take, and watch the elapsed timer in the toolbar popup while it runs. What you can do: - Take screenshots four ways (visible area, region, full scrolling page, or any monitor or window) and mark them up in a built-in editor: pen, arrow, shapes, highlighter, text, and a blur tool to redact anything sensitive. - Record your screen, any window, or a tab to a WebM or MP4 video, with optional system audio and microphone mixed in locally. - Record just a region: drag a box and only that area goes into the video. - Keep recordings in a local library where you can play, download, or delete them, with an optional keep-the-last-N limit. - Copy screenshots straight to your clipboard, or save as PNG or JPEG. - Optional pre-capture countdown and keyboard shortcuts (off by default so they never clash with typing). It has no host permissions, so it has no standing access to any site: it can only touch a tab after you explicitly invoke it there, and only for as long as that lasts. Recordings are encoded on your device and stored in your browser's local storage, never on a server. Every feature is free, with nothing behind a paywall.
