MyYaad — Privacy Vault for AI helps protect your personal information every time you use an AI chatbot. Before your prompt reaches the AI, MyYaad replaces real personal data — names, emails, phone numbers, addresses — with realistic-looking "shadow" values. The AI sees the shadows; you still get a useful answer. When the response comes back, MyYaad restores your real values in the reply shown in your browser. You stay in control: MyYaad shows you a preview of exactly what will be sent before you send it. HOW IT WORKS Add your personal data to the MyYaad vault in the desktop app (stored locally on your device). Type your prompt as normal in any supported AI chatbot. MyYaad detects vault entries in your prompt and shows a pre-send preview of the shadowed text. You send — the AI receives the shadowed prompt. When the AI responds, MyYaad restores your real values in the displayed response. KEY FEATURES Multi-provider shadow protection — works across the major AI chatbots, each through a provider-specific adapter. Provider isolation by salting — each service receives different shadow values, so a given piece of your data doesn't look the same across providers. Pre-send preview — see exactly what will be sent before it leaves your browser. No silent rewriting. Fail-closed by design — if a piece of high-sensitivity data is detected but can't be safely shadowed, MyYaad flags it and holds the send for your confirmation rather than letting raw data through unnoticed. Documents as context — load a PDF, Word, or Excel file as context, with shadow protection applied to detected personal data in its text. Note: spreadsheet detection works cell-by-cell and may not catch every cell — always review the preview before sending. Local processing — your vault and shadow generation live in the MyYaad desktop app on your own device. PRIVACY MODEL Local vault — your personal data is stored locally on your device by the desktop app. The extension never holds your vault. Local-first communication — the extension talks to the MyYaad desktop app over your computer's loopback address (127.0.0.1). Your prompts and vault data are shadowed locally. One external call, disclosed — to keep matching chatbot pages as their layouts change, the extension periodically downloads a small CSS-selector configuration file from myyaad.com. This is configuration data only — no personal data, prompts, or vault contents are ever sent. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no account — MyYaad collects no usage data and requires no sign-in. REQUIRES The MyYaad desktop application (free) running on your computer. The exact supported sites are listed under this extension's "Site access" permissions. WHERE WE ARE (honest status) MyYaad is early software under active development. Detection is strongest for structured data (emails, phone numbers) and your saved vault entries; free-text date-of-birth and some document edge cases are still improving. Encrypted-at-rest vault storage is on the roadmap, not yet shipped — today the vault is a local file on your device. Always review the pre-send preview.
