Export your BCIT schedule to Google Calendar or download as ICS file
Stop manually typing your schedule into your phone! The myBCIT Schedule Exporter is the ultimate productivity tool for British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) students. It seamlessly bridges the gap between the rigid, read-only Student Detail Schedule on the BCIT portal and the modern calendar apps you use every day. 🚀 Why Install This Extension? With a single click, you can parse your entire semester's timetable—including course names, room numbers, instructors, and specific dates—and sync it to your personal calendar. No more missed classes, no more transcription errors, and no more showing up to an empty room because you didn't know the schedule changed. 1. Save Time & Eliminate Busy Work Manually entering 5-7 courses into your calendar, calculating recurring dates, and adding room numbers takes hours. This extension does it in seconds. 2. Avoid costly Mistakes It's easy to typo a room number or mix up "Mon/Wed" with "Tue/Thu" when typing manually. Our smart parser reads the schedule data directly from the page, ensuring 100% accuracy. 3. Master Complex Schedules BCIT schedules are notorious for being irregular. Some classes run for the full term, others for only 4 weeks. Some labs are bi-weekly. Term-Long Mode: Automatically detects the start and end dates for EACH course independently. If your Math class ends in March but Physics goes to May, the extension handles it perfectly. Weekly Mode: Perfect for programs with weekly schedule rotations. Just grab a snapshot of "This Week" and drop it into your calendar. 4. Privacy First Your schedule is private. We believe it should stay that way. Client-Side Processing: All parsing happens right in your browser. We don't send your schedule to any unknown servers. Direct-to-Google: When using the Google Calendar integration, the data goes straight from your browser to Google's API. No middleman. No Sign-In Option: Don't want to connect your account? Use the "Download .ics" feature to get a standard file you can import anywhere, completely anonymously. 🌟 Key Features 📅 Seamless Google Calendar Integration Connect your Google account and add your entire schedule with one click. Creates a dedicated "BCIT Schedule" calendar (optional) or adds to your main one. Events are color-coded for clarity. Reminders can be set automatically. 📂 Universal .ICS Export Not using Google Calendar? No problem. Download a standard .ics (iCalendar) file. Works with Apple Calendar (iOS/Mac), Outlook, Yahoo, and any other major calendar application. Simply open the downloaded file to import events to your desktop or mobile device. 🧠 Intelligent "Smart Parse" Technology We don't just copy the time. We understand the context. Location Parsing: Automatically extracts Building and Room numbers (e.g., "SW1-1021") and puts them in the "Location" field of the event, so you can click for maps. Date Range Logic: Identifies exactly which weeks a class runs. If a holiday skips a class, you can easily delete that single instance, but the extension sets up the correct start and end dates for the series. 📖 How to Use Install the myBCIT Schedule Exporter extension. Log in to my.bcit.ca and navigate to Student Self Service > Student Detail Schedule. You will see two new buttons appear at the top of your schedule: 🔵 Add to Google Calendar ⚪ Download .ics File Select your Mode: Term-Long: Best for the start of the semester. This Week: Best for checking specific weeks. Click & Go: Watch as your schedule fills up automatically! ❓ Frequently Asked Questions Q: Does this work for all BCIT programs? A: It works for any program that uses the standard "Student Detail Schedule" grid view on my.bcit.ca. This covers the vast majority of Full-Time and Part-Time programs. Q: Is my password safe? A: Yes. This extension never sees or asks for your BCIT password. It simply reads the text already visible on your screen. If you use Google Calendar Sync, you sign in via Google's official OAuth secure login window. Q: What if my schedule changes? A: If your schedule changes in the middle of the term, you can simply delete the old events and re-run the extension, or use the "This Week" mode to update specific weeks. Q: Is this an official BCIT tool? A: No, this is a student-made tool created to help fellow students. It is not officially endorsed by BCIT, but it is built to be safe, secure, and helpful. 🛠 Support & Feedback Found a bug? Have a feature request?
