Overview

Filters and VPNs won't relocate you. Instantly tells every website your real location instead of the VPN's.

Do you browse through a content filter or VPN that exits in another country? Then every website thinks you live there: wrong currency, wrong shops, wrong search results, wrong language. My Real Location fixes the part of this that a browser can fix. It answers every website's JavaScript location request instantly with YOUR real location — the one you choose — instead of letting the site guess from the VPN's exit node. • Instant: the location is injected before any page script runs, on every page and inside every frame — including embedded and blank (about:blank) iframes such as comment widgets or embedded maps. No permission popups, no GPS or IP lookup delay, no waiting. So that the answer is consistent, a site that checks geolocation permission state sees it as "granted", matching the location the extension supplies, so it won't show a "location blocked" prompt. • Search anywhere: type an address, postcode, or place name (for example "2000 Antwerpen", "Eiffel Tower", or a full street address), click Search, and choose the correct match to fill the coordinates. • Precise: prefer exact numbers? Enter your latitude and longitude by hand. • Optional language signal: a language picker can set your Accept-Language request header (English — including a UK English option — Dutch, or French, optionally signalling Belgium), so sites that adapt to language preference show the right one. This hints language only — it does not change the country a site detects from your IP/VPN. Leave it Off to change nothing. • Optional currency & shipping country (best-effort): pick a preferred currency and/or country and, on sites that use a standard dropdown for them, the extension selects your choice automatically. Sites with custom menus, or that decide by cookie/account/IP, are left unchanged. It reads only the site's own on-page options and sends nothing. • Private by design: no tracking, no analytics, no advertising. The only network request the extension itself initiates is the address search: when you type a query and click Search, that text is sent over HTTPS to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service to turn it into coordinates, and OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy applies to that request. Nothing is sent unless you click Search. Separately, if you turn on the optional language picker, it changes the Accept-Language header on requests your browser already makes — it does not create new requests or send your data to the developer. Apart from the address search, the extension sends no data to the developer: the developer runs no server and collects nothing. Your chosen coordinates and language choice are saved in your own Chrome profile and, if you have Chrome Sync enabled, travel through Google's standard sync to your own Chrome devices (the developer never receives this data). Honest note about IP: websites can also work out your country from your IP address on their servers, before any extension code runs. This extension only changes the browser's JavaScript Geolocation API — it cannot change your IP. If a site (for example Zara, Skyscanner, Kayak, or a Google country redirect) still shows the wrong country, that is IP-based and no browser extension can fix it. The real fix there is your VPN/filter provider routing through the country you want, or using the site's own country/region picker. Already using another geolocation-changing extension (for example Location Guard or Google Search Location Changer)? Two such extensions fight over the same API — please disable the other one for reliable results.
