Overview

See the loaded language in any article: its Language Load (lower is plainer) and loaded words highlighted. 7 articles a week free.

See the loaded language in any article. Open a news article and Mundane Read shows you three things: The score. The article's Language Load: how loaded its writing is, from 0 to 100, where 0 is a plain report. Lower is plainer. The loaded words, highlighted. The adjectives that judge rather than report are named in the panel, and one tap marks every one of them on the page. How others covered it. One click to the same story on Mundane Read, where each newsroom's headline and Language Load sit side by side, wherever Mundane Read has the story. Keep reading whatever you read. Mundane Read shows you how it was written. It measures the writing, not the politics. There is no left-right rating and there will not be one. It does not say whether a story is true; it says how it is told. Under the first two readings are the others the site shows: how much of the report is attributed to a named source, and its mood. A headline check looks for the headline's figures, names and quoted words in the report under it. The rest (repeated words, sentiment, and political, generational, gender, flag-waving and religious wording) are folded away until you open them. Every rule it works to is published, with a code, at mundaneread.com/catalogue, and every reading is defined at mundaneread.com/method. Nothing is written or rewritten by AI and nothing is sent to an AI service: the engine runs entirely in your browser. Your reading stays yours. The article's text never leaves your device. To show the readings Mundane Read publishes for an article, the extension sends four characters of a fingerprint of the page's address, never the address. No advertising, no analytics, nothing sold. Seven articles a week are free. For unlimited articles, subscribe for A$3.99 a month or A$39.99 a year at mundaneread.com/extension.
