Overview

Every new tab puts a film from your MUBI list in the spotlight.

MUBI Spotlight transforms every new tab into a cinematic moment. Each time you open a new tab, a random film from your chosen MUBI list takes center stage — displayed as a full-screen still with the title, director, country, year, genres, runtime, and synopsis. One click takes you straight to the film on MUBI. It uses MUBI Public API no API Key or Authentication is needed. Features: - Full-screen film stills on every new tab - Shows title, director, country, year, genres, runtime, and synopsis - Direct link to watch on MUBI - Works with any public MUBI list - Caches your list for 24 hours — no repeated API calls (refreshes after that) - Fully customizable: set any MUBI list URL in settings How to use: 1. Install the extension 2. Open a new tab — a film from the MUBI Top 1000 appears by default 3. Click settings (top right) to use your own MUBI list Perfect for cinephiles who want a daily dose of film discovery. The project is open-source you can audit the code.
