MoolKey is a secure, privacy-focused password manager for Chrome that creates strong passwords and bank PINs on your device and never stores them. You remember one secret word. MoolKey turns it into a different password for every login and a unique PIN for every card, then gives you the same one back whenever you need it. No password lists and no notes to keep. We NEVER store the passwords or PINs you generate, so there is no vault of your passwords to leak or lose. Each one is created in your browser, copied for you, and cleared from the extension 60 seconds later. Enter the same details next week or next year and you get exactly the same password back, even offline. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a login. Choose a saved site, or click the MoolKey button on a website and let it suggest the site for you. 2. Type your secret word. This is your Master Key, the one secret behind all your passwords. 3. Get your password or PIN. It is created on your device and copied, ready to paste. Need it again later? Repeat the same steps and the same password comes back. Nothing had to be saved. PRIVACY BY DESIGN Never stored or sent to MoolKey: • Your secret word and any shared word • The passwords and PINs you generate • The content of web pages and anything you type into their forms Saved to your account in online mode, so your site list is ready on every device: • Your email address and name • Your site names and, for each login, its username, length, version, sharing setting, and when you last used it Email addresses and phone numbers are saved partly hidden (for example, jor••••lee@example.com). Other usernames are saved as you type them. None of these details can produce a password without your secret word. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. SECURITY DETAILS • Passwords and PINs are derived on your device with PBKDF2-SHA256 and 600,000 iterations, which makes guessing attacks slow and costly. • Each result depends on your secret word, the site, the username, the length, and the version. Change any one of them and you get a completely different value. PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED • activeTab: when you click the MoolKey button, the extension reads that tab's address to suggest the site name. It never reads the page itself or your browsing history. • cookies: keeps the extension signed in to your account. Only MoolKey's own sign-in cookie is used, never other websites' cookies. • api.moolkey.com and icons.moolkey.com: MoolKey's own services, used to sync your site list and show site icons. Only the site name is sent, never the full page address. GOOD TO KNOW • Choose a long secret word that you don't use anywhere else. It protects every password you create. • A forgotten secret word can't be recovered. We never receive it, so no one can reset it. Keep a safe backup. • There is no autofill. The extension stays out of the pages you visit, so you paste passwords yourself. • Each result is copied to your clipboard, and the extension doesn't clear the clipboard afterward. • Changing a login's length, version, or username changes its password, so update that website when you do. • Requires Chrome 120 or newer. After you install, a setup page asks you to pin MoolKey to your toolbar, and the extension unlocks once it's pinned. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Where are my passwords stored? Nowhere in MoolKey. It is a deterministic, or stateless, password manager. It recreates each password from your secret word and the login details whenever you ask, so there is nothing to store. How is this different from a random password generator? A random generator gives you a new password every time, so you still have to save it somewhere. MoolKey gives you the same strong password every time you enter the same details. Can every bank card have a different PIN? Yes. Give each card its own name, such as "Salary debit card" or "Travel card", and each one gets its own PIN. Does MoolKey work without internet? Yes. Choose Use offline, then enter the site, username, length, version, and your secret word. You get the same result you would get online. It supports passwords of 4 to 20 characters and PINs of 3 to 20 digits. How do I change just one password? Open that login and choose "New one". Set the new password on that website, and every other password stays the same. A website rejected my password. What should I do? Try a different length. Passwords use upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and the symbols ! @ # $. The extension doesn't check each website's own password rules. Can MoolKey see my passwords? No. They are created in your browser and never sent to our servers, so even we can't see them. Is MoolKey free? Yes. The Free Forever plan includes unlimited passwords and PINs.
