Overview

Private, non-custodial Monero (XMR) wallet. Keys stay in your browser: local WebAssembly engine, encrypted vault, no accounts.

Monero Wallet is a full, non-custodial Monero (XMR) wallet that runs entirely inside Chrome. Your recovery phrase and keys are created, encrypted and used on your device: the Monero Project's own C++ wallet code, compiled to WebAssembly via monero-ts, scans the blockchain and signs transactions locally. No accounts, no servers of ours, no tracking. KEY FEATURES • Create a new wallet, restore from a 25-word recovery phrase (by restore height or date), or import an encrypted backup • Mainnet, plus stagenet and testnet for practicing with free test coins • Use a built-in public node, or connect your own node (for example a local monerod) for the strongest privacy • Accounts and labeled subaddresses, with the balance of each address and unused addresses highlighted • Integrated addresses with payment IDs • Receive with QR codes and monero: payment requests (amount and description) • Send with offline address checksum validation, monero: link parsing, "send max" with the fee deducted, and fee priority • Every payment is shown for review first: full address, amount, exact fee and total • Private address book, stored inside the encrypted wallet • Transaction history grouped by day with filters, totals, private notes and CSV export • Transaction keys to prove a payment; sign and verify messages offline • Rescan from a chosen height or date; rename or delete wallets • Dark and light themes, keyboard shortcuts, full-window mode PRIVACY The wallet contacts only the one Monero node you choose, and only after you acknowledge a privacy notice: a public node from its built-in list of five, or a node you add yourself. For your own node, Chrome asks you to allow that single address; nothing is granted in advance. There is no automatic sync on unlock and no background polling. A node can see your IP address, when you sync, the block range you request and that a transaction was broadcast from your IP. It cannot see your recovery phrase, keys, password, addresses, balance, labels, contacts or notes: blocks are scanned on your device with your private view key, which never leaves it. For more network privacy, use your own node, a VPN or Tor for your browser, and prefer HTTPS nodes. No analytics, telemetry, advertising or crash reporting. The extension runs no remote code. SECURITY • Wallets are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your password (PBKDF2-SHA256, 600,000 iterations) • Keys are decrypted only while the wallet is unlocked; it locks automatically after 1 to 60 minutes of inactivity (5 by default) • Showing the recovery phrase or view key requires your password; the private spend key is never displayed • Optional: require your password before every payment is broadcast • Payment drafts are one-shot and expire after 5 minutes; an uncertain broadcast is never retried automatically • A strict content security policy allows only the extension's own bundled code WHAT IT IS NOT • Not an official Monero Project release, and not independently audited • A hot wallet: keep long-term savings in cold storage • No hardware wallets, multisig or dApp/website connections • There is no password reset. Removing the extension or clearing its data erases saved wallets, so keep your 25-word recovery phrase offline • CSV exports are plain text; store them carefully • The interface is in English GETTING STARTED Install, click the toolbar icon and choose "Create a new wallet". Try stagenet first: it uses free test coins, so you can learn every feature without risk. Open source under the MIT license. The privacy policy, terms and security details are on the project website. Independent open-source project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Monero Project.
