MockupForge Capture
Overview
Capture a tab as a desktop, tablet or mobile viewport, or both at once, and send it to MockupForge 3D for a device mockup.
Take a screenshot of the tab you’re on, whether it’s your desktop or an emulated mobile device, and open it directly in MockupForge 3D as a device mockup. Detailed description: MockupForge Capture captures the current tab and seamlessly integrates it into MockupForge 3D, transforming it into a device mockup ready for export. This tool eliminates the tedious middle step of screenshotting saving to disk and dragging files into a tool. With a single click, the studio opens with your screenshot already on the device. What it does: - Captures the current tab exactly as you see it. - Utilises a real emulated phone viewport to ensure a mobile layout instead of a squashed desktop one. - Opens directly in MockupForge 3D, ready for rendering. - Preserves your preferred device and backdrop settings, ensuring consistent captures. - Provides keyboard shortcuts for both capture modes. Where your screenshot goes: There’s no network code in this extension, meaning no server, account, analytics or telemetry. Your screenshot transitions from Chrome to your own MockupForge tab, and rendering occurs within your browser on your own machine. If the studio tab is inaccessible, the screenshot is saved to your Downloads folder, ensuring that your work is never lost even if the handoff fails. About the debugger permission: Mobile capture requires Chrome’s debugger permission because device emulation isn’t accessible through any other API. Chrome doesn’t allow this permission to be optional. It’s only used when you select Capture Mobile to set a phone viewport before taking a picture and is released immediately afterwards. Desktop capture never interacts with it. WHAT YOU NEED Nothing else. There are no accounts to create. MockupForge 3D is a free browser tool available at mockup.lukeduff.co.uk. Made by lukeduff.co.uk Privacy policy: https://mockup.lukeduff.co.uk/privacy Category: Developer Tools · Language: English (UK) · Privacy policy: https://mockup.lukeduff.co.uk/privacy Single purpose: Capture the current browser tab as a screenshot and open it in MockupForge 3D so the user can render it as a device mockup. The five permission justifications (activeTab, storage, downloads, alarms, debugger) plus the host permission are found at chrome-extension/STORE-LISTING.md:104-144. Paste each verbatim as they match the manifest field-for-field. Privacy tab: Declare no data collection, tick all three certifications, and answer No to remote code and No to account required (:150-174). Assets: chrome-extension/store-assets/ contains four 1280×800 screenshots (upload in numbered order), promo-tile-small.png (440×280), and chrome-extension/icons/icon128.png as the listing icon. One thing still preventing submission from the checklist is the manual captureVisibleTab test on a real toolbar click. CDP can’t grant activeTab, so it’s the one path that hasn’t been verified. Unpack the extension, click the icon on any site, and confirm that the studio opens with the shot. If that fails after submission, it’s a rejection, and Store versions can’t be reused.
