Overview

Use the toolbar popup to open an in-page X-Ray sidebar for public YouTube channel signals.

X-Ray for YouTube adds a sidebar to YouTube channel and video pages. Open a supported YouTube page, click the extension, and X-Ray opens a compact sidebar for the public channel or video you are viewing. The extension reads the active YouTube URL, extracts the public channel handle, channel ID, or video ID, and sends that identifier to the configured X-Ray API. The API returns the available public channel signals for the sidebar. What the sidebar can show when data is available - Channel scale: subscribers, total views, video count, lifetime average views per video, and lifetime views per subscriber. - X-Ray Score: a 0-100 public score when the API has enough signals for that channel. - Market signals: primary niche, saturation, opportunity, and competitor counts when those fields exist in the API response. - Growth readiness: annualized growth only after enough stored snapshots exist. Until then, the sidebar explains how much history has been collected. - Estimated monthly revenue: shown only when the API has enough CPM and view signals for that channel. - Feedback: users can report missing data, confusing labels, or channels that need better coverage. Competitor counts are explicit When competitor data is present, X-Ray separates competitors into three buckets: - Comparable competitors: same primary niche and roughly 0.5x to 2x the channel's subscriber count. - Niche competitors: all other indexed channels assigned to the same primary niche. - Aspirational competitors: same primary niche and larger than the comparable range, up to roughly 10x the channel's subscriber count. This avoids ambiguous "competitor" numbers. A channel can have many niche competitors but zero comparable competitors if the indexed library does not yet include peers at the same scale. Revenue estimate details Estimated monthly revenue is not guaranteed for every page. When shown, it is based on estimated monthly views multiplied by a CPM band for the channel's primary niche. The sidebar labels the period as monthly and shows the CPM band as USD per 1,000 ad views. Growth details Annualized growth is calculated from stored channel snapshots over time. X-Ray requires enough snapshot history before showing growth, so some channels show a "collecting history" state instead of a growth percentage. How it works X-Ray reads the active YouTube URL, extracts the channel handle, channel ID, or video ID, and asks the X-Ray API for the matching public channel record and available signals. The extension does not read your YouTube account, comments, watch history, subscriptions, or private data. Channel statistics come from the YouTube Data API v3 and the X-Ray for YouTube indexed channel library. Some enrichment signals may be unavailable until a channel has been refreshed and enough historical snapshots have been collected. Privacy - No YouTube login access. - No access to your watch history, comments, subscriptions, or private account data. - No background browsing history collection. - The extension sends the YouTube channel ID, handle, or video ID from the active YouTube page to the X-Ray for YouTube API so it can return the sidebar data. - Feedback submission is optional. If you provide an email address and consent, it may be used for follow-up or product updates. X-Ray for YouTube is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
