Discord Translation Assistant
Overview
Translate Discord chats, channels and forums. Preview and edit drafts before sending, with Google or your own AI service.
No daily limits. No subscription. No account. The extension itself never charges you and never caps how much you translate. Use the no-key Google-based mode, or bring your own API key and pay your provider directly. Nothing is routed through a developer server. It translates what usually gets left out: channel names, forum posts and navigation labels, in place, not just chat bubbles. And it never sends for you. Translate your draft, read it, edit it, then decide. One click undoes the replacement. Discord Translation Assistant adds reading translations and editable draft previews to Discord on the web. Follow multilingual chats, gaming groups and community discussions while keeping the original message available to check. Read in your language • Unified reading is on by default and automatically translates visible, supported messages; manual translation is also available. • The main switch also controls supported channel and forum translation. Hover over translated navigation labels to view the original. • See loading, completion and retry states next to chat translations. • Automatic translations wait while you scroll and appear in batches afterward to reduce reading-position jumps. Review before you send • Translate a draft, edit the preview, then copy it or replace the text in the composer. • Undo a replacement within the available window. Further editing ends that undo opportunity to protect your new text. • Click outside the draft preview or scroll the chat manually to hide it. Click Translate again to restore an unchanged draft; changed drafts are translated again. • Complex composer content uses the copy workflow. The extension never sends messages for you. Choose your translation service • Google-based basic translation does not require an API key. Availability depends on network conditions, rate limits and service changes. • Bring your own API key from a compatible AI translation provider, or point the extension at any custom HTTPS translation endpoint. • A custom service is configured with a URL, method, authentication, request template and response field. Templates are data only and never run code. • Optional AI enhancement uses limited relevant context. If AI enhancement fails, the source text may be sent to Google for a basic fallback translation. • AI services require your own API key and may charge usage fees. Translation quality depends on the service and context. Translate images on request • Open an image attachment in Discord's viewer and click Translate to recognize its text locally in your browser. • The translation is laid over the original text in place, and you can switch back to the original at any time. • The original image is never uploaded. Only the recognized text is translated by your reading-language service. • Recognition models are downloaded once from the official PaddleOCR source, verified by SHA-256, and stored locally. Keep control • Separate reading and reply languages, including automatic detection; selections take effect immediately. • Interface in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, with system light and dark themes. • Unified reading is on by default and can be paused at any time. AI enhancement is off by default. Data and privacy Text selected for translation, drafts and language parameters are sent over HTTPS to the chosen service. Some providers also receive bounded related context; a custom service receives only the fields its template references. With AI enhancement enabled, the request may include a replied-to message, up to two relevant preceding messages and the channel topic, within a 1,500-character context budget. Google fallback receives the source text without that additional context. Text may contain personal information: only translate content you are willing to share with the selected provider. There is no developer-operated relay server or analytics tracking. The extension does not persist chat history. Settings and API keys stay in local browser storage rather than Chrome Sync; local storage is not an encrypted vault. Third-party retention practices are governed by each provider's policies. Compatibility Requires a signed-in Discord website in Chrome. Does not work inside the Discord desktop or mobile apps. Image translation only runs when you click it in Discord's image viewer. Voice translation and automatic message sending are not included. An independent third-party extension, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Discord Inc. Discord is referenced solely to describe platform compatibility.
