Too many open tabs quietly undermine both your focus and your computer's performance. Focus Limit addresses both, for free. CAP YOUR TABS Set a limit globally, per window, or both, then choose how it's enforced. Hard mode closes new tabs automatically once you're over the limit. Soft mode simply flags them and lets you decide. BUILT FOR A SCATTERED BRAIN, NOT AGAINST IT Reaching your limit doesn't trigger a lecture. It opens a calm dashboard listing every open tab so you can close one with a single click, plus a single override for when you genuinely need one more tab, and snooze options of 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes for stretches of work that legitimately require several tabs at once. FOCUS SESSIONS Start a timed session with a stricter tab cap, for example 25 minutes with a maximum of five tabs. Your normal limit returns automatically once the timer ends. AUTOMATIC GROUPING BY CATEGORY Turn this on and Chrome's native tab groups take over. Social, Work, Dev, Media, Shopping, News, AI Tools, Travel, Gaming, Health & Fitness, Finance, and Reference tabs sort themselves as you browse. Add your own domain rules for anything not covered, or assign any open tab to a group with a single click. IDLE TAB CLEANUP Tabs you've genuinely forgotten about are closed automatically after a timeout you choose. The tab you're currently viewing is never closed, nor is one you've locked (right click, then Lock this tab), nor one playing audio. Every tab closed this way lands in a Recently Closed list you can restore with a single click. DUPLICATE DETECTION A single click closes duplicate tabs of the same page, keeping only the one you used most recently. SAVED SESSIONS Bundle an entire window's tabs into a named session you can restore later without keeping them open now. Useful for parking a research project or travel planning tabs you're not ready to lose. A CALMER NEW TAB PAGE Replaces Chrome's default new tab feed with something quieter: a clock, a plain search box, your live tab count, quick links to your tab groups, and an optional rotating photo wallpaper using credited, free Unsplash photos. SMART NOTIFICATIONS Tab limit alerts include actions you can take directly from the notification: snooze for 15 minutes or jump to the dashboard. Idle closure notifications include an instant undo. NO ACCOUNTS, NO PAYWALLS, NO DATA COLLECTION Every setting lives in your own browser and syncs only through your own Chrome account, the same way bookmarks do. Nothing is ever sent to a server we operate, because we don't operate one. The only network requests this extension makes are for loading the optional wallpaper photos you choose to enable.
