Overview

A cinematic desert theme for Chrome: sand, dust and twilight in a warm, dark browser interface.

MM Desert Storm turns Chrome into a quiet desert evening. The theme is built around one scene: a dust storm drifting over open dunes at the end of the day. A muted red sun sinks into an orange haze, layered sandstone ridges fade into the distance, and deep twilight blue settles over everything above the horizon. That artwork fills the New Tab page, and the rest of the browser is finished in the same warm, dark earth tones, so the interface and the background feel like one piece rather than a wallpaper dropped behind a stock toolbar. What it changes MM Desert Storm restyles the window frame, the tab strip, the toolbar, the address bar, the bookmarks bar and the New Tab page. The frame is a deep charcoal brown. The toolbar sits a step above it in dark earth. The active tab label is a pale warm cream, inactive tab labels are weathered sand, and bookmark labels stay bright enough to scan at a glance. The address bar is a slightly lifted brown with cream text. Built for everyday browsing Desert photography is usually bright, and a bright browser is tiring to look at all day. This theme keeps the warmth and drops the glare: the whole New Tab image sits well below mid brightness, and the composition deliberately leaves the middle of the page calm so your search box and shortcuts remain the first thing you see. The background is centered and never tiled, so there are no seams across wide displays. Why a warm dark theme Most dark themes are grey or blue. If you find those cold, a warm dark palette is easier to live with: the same reduced glare, but with sand, rust and twilight instead of slate. The colours were chosen as a set, so tabs, toolbar, bookmarks and the New Tab page agree with each other instead of competing. Who it is for People who like desert landscapes, earthy colour palettes and cinematic scenery, and anyone who wants their browser to feel considered rather than default. What it does not do MM Desert Storm is a static Chrome theme. It changes how the browser looks. It does not run scripts, does not request permissions, does not change the pages you visit, and has no settings to configure. Install it, and Chrome simply looks different. Install MM Desert Storm and let the dust settle over your browser. Published by MM Web https://mmweb.net
