Overview
Free scam check for the used-car listing you're viewing. Scored on your device, no account, only when you click.
Check a used-car listing for scam risk before you ever message the seller. It's free. CarBluff Scan works on car listings on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, AutoTrader, and Cars.com. Open a listing, click the CarBluff icon, and it scores the listing from 0 to 100 for scam risk, then shows you the exact red flags it found: deposit-before-viewing requests, shipping or off-platform stories, prices that are too good to be true, branded (salvage or rebuilt) titles, down-payment prices dressed up as the full price, copy-pasted description patterns, and more. How it works: The scam check is free. No account, no login, no subscription. Nothing is scored until you click. There is no background scanning and no feed monitoring. Scoring happens on your device. The listing's title, price, description, and location are analyzed right in your browser and are never sent to CarBluff or anyone else. The only thing sent to carbluff.com is a quick check that the tool has not been turned off for safety. Listing content is never sent. Want to know if it's a good buy, not just whether it's safe? The full buy-or-walk verdict (Deal Score vs real market comps, a condition read, and an overall recommendation) is the "Full Report." Save a car on carbluff.com and unlock its Full Report there. Scam checks stay free forever; Full Report credits are one-time, no subscription. The optional on-listing badge (on by default, turn it off any time in Settings): When you open a car listing on a supported site, CarBluff can show a small "Check this listing with CarBluff" badge near the title and light up its toolbar icon, so you know the page can be scanned. To do that it reads only the visible text of that one listing page, in your browser, to recognize that it is a car listing. It sends nothing anywhere and scores nothing. The scan itself still only runs when you click "Scan This Listing." Two independent switches in Settings let you turn either off. With both off, the extension does nothing until you open it yourself. What it does NOT do: it does not read your feed, other listings, your messages, your contacts, your cookies, or your browser storage.
