Overview

Scan book reviews for tropes and dealbreakers with private local semantic search. No API key required.

BookGlints is a trope and dealbreaker scanner for book reviews. Tell it anything you want to find or avoid before starting a book — slow pacing, strong friendships, romance taking over the plot, an overpowered or overly perfect protagonist, excessive violence, an unfinished series, dungeon crawling, or almost anything else reviewers might mention. BookGlints scans real reviews on Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Royal Road using semantic matching rather than relying on exact keywords. Every result includes an excerpt from the actual review, so you can read the context and decide for yourself. No API key is required. BookGlints includes a built-in local semantic scanner that runs directly in your browser. Native scanning is private, free to use, and optimized for English-language reviews. Features include: Scan the book currently open in your browser Find tropes, themes, dealbreakers, character traits, pacing issues, and more Search for another title without leaving the extension Batch scan multiple books Royal Road Read Later import Local scan history Three scan depths: Quick, Extremes, and All Stars Optional Auto-Scan for recurring themes and patterns Optional External AI mode for Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, and OpenAI Want stronger multilingual support or prefer cloud AI? External AI is available as an optional advanced feature. Bring your own API key from Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI. BookGlints requires no account and no subscription for its core scanning features. With Native scanning, review text is processed locally in your browser. If you deliberately switch to External AI, relevant review text is sent directly from your browser to the provider you choose and does not pass through a BookGlints server.
