OpenDM Connect

Sends downloads, links and videos from the browser to the OpenDM download manager.

OpenDM Connect sends your downloads from Chrome to OpenDM, a free and open-source download manager for macOS and Windows. Files download faster, survive network drops and restarts, and land in tidy folders. Videos can be saved in the quality you choose. WHAT IT DOES • Takes over downloads: when you download a file, OpenDM gets it instead of the browser, with the same cookies and referrer, so downloads that need you to be signed in still work. • Video and audio in any quality: hover a video and click "Download video" to pick a resolution, or save the audio on its own. Works with streaming video (HLS and DASH) as well as plain video files. • Everything on the page in one place: the toolbar button lists the videos and audio the current page plays. • Right-click any link, image, video or audio and choose "Download with OpenDM", or send every link on a page or in a selection at once. • Stays out of your way: Alt-click a link to keep that one download in Chrome, and choose sites, file types or small files to leave alone. WHY A DOWNLOAD MANAGER • Each file downloads over several connections at once. • Pause and resume at any time, even after restarting your computer. • Name a file and pick its folder before it starts, and follow it in its own progress window. Both can be turned off. • Automatic folders for video, music, documents, programs and archives. • Speed limits, a scheduler, proxy support and saved logins for sites that ask for a password. REQUIRES THE OPENDM APP This extension works together with the OpenDM app, which does the downloading. Install OpenDM for macOS or Windows from the website linked on this page, open it once, and the extension connects on its own. PRIVACY OpenDM Connect talks only to the OpenDM app on your own computer, through Chrome's native messaging. It passes a download's address, and the cookies, referrer and user agent that download needs, to that app and nowhere else. There are no analytics, no ads and no servers of our own.
