Mira Translator is a browser extension designed with privacy and security in mind. It brings together webpage, document, and video translation with AI-assisted comprehension and language-learning tools. Translate web pages, PDF documents, EPUB e-books, and YouTube and X (Twitter) video subtitles. Build your vocabulary with a personal wordbook, manage terminology with a custom glossary, and keep your learning materials in sync across devices. Built-in Translation Google and Bing translation are built in, providing ready-to-use translation for everyday browsing. • Immersive webpage translation • Bilingual YouTube subtitles • Available for desktop browsers and Android browsers that support extensions, including Firefox and Microsoft Edge AI Translation & Learning Assistance This extension does not provide a free AI translation service or include built-in AI services or usage credits. To use AI translation, AI sentence analysis, AI-generated tests, video speech recognition, or image text recognition, you need to configure an API key from a third-party provider. Pricing and available usage quotas depend on the provider you choose. • Connect compatible AI models and third-party translation services, with support for custom API endpoints • Context-aware translation: Uses surrounding text to understand context, reducing awkward or overly literal translations for more natural results • Custom AI translation styles: Set a different translation style for each website. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not currently supported • EPUB translation: Read and translate e-books in other languages • Immersive webpage translation, with the option to choose which parts of a page to translate • Bilingual subtitle translation for YouTube and X (Twitter) videos • For videos without subtitles, AI speech recognition can generate subtitles and translate them • YouTube subtitle preview and download, with the ability to look up and save words directly from the subtitles Language Learning Tools • Vocabulary notebook: Save words and sentences in multiple ways, keep your learning materials organized, and revisit them whenever you need • Vocabulary highlighting: Saved words are automatically highlighted on web pages and in YouTube subtitles, making them easier to review while reading or watching videos • Daily review cards: Revisit words from your vocabulary notebook with daily review cards to reinforce your memory and build a consistent study habit • Vocabulary practice: Test your knowledge of words saved in your vocabulary notebook and reinforce what you have learned • Custom glossary: Add specialized terms and preferred translations to keep terminology consistent across professional and technical content • Glossary highlighting: Automatically identify and highlight terms from your glossary on web pages Website Settings & Translation Engines • Global translation defaults that define the initial translation behavior for websites • Turn automatic translation on or off for the current website directly from the extension popup. Your choice is automatically remembered for each website • No need to enter website addresses manually or navigate to a separate settings page to manage translation behavior for the current site • Use the smart selector to choose which elements of a webpage should be translated • Independent translation engine settings: Choose different translation engines for webpage translation, text selection, video subtitles, instant translation, and quick input. Mix and match services to suit each task Quick Translation Tools • Hover translation: On desktop, hover over a paragraph or word and use a keyboard shortcut to translate it • Input field translation: Translate text directly in webpage input fields without copying and pasting • Quick translation window: Open the translation window on any webpage using a keyboard shortcut, so you can translate text without leaving the current page • Smart caching: Stores and reuses translation results separately for each translation engine to reduce duplicate requests. Cached AI translations can also be reused by traditional neural machine translation (NMT) engines Cross-Device & Cross-Browser Sync Use your own WebDAV, Google Drive, or OneDrive account to sync your vocabulary notebook, glossary, and related settings in both directions across devices and supported browsers. Whether you are reading a foreign-language webpage on your computer or using Firefox or Microsoft Edge on Android, you can save words and sentences as you go. Items saved on your computer sync to your phone, and items saved on your phone sync back to your computer, so you can review and study whenever and wherever it suits you. Sync uses your own cloud account. Data is transferred through the cloud service you choose and is not routed through this extension's servers. Privacy Protection This extension does not collect your browsing content. Your API key is stored locally, and AI requests are sent directly from your browser to the third-party provider you choose, without passing through this extension's servers. How your data is handled after it reaches the provider is subject to that provider's privacy policy.
