Minimal Spreadsheet, Text & Design Editor: Runs Local, Works Offline
Overview
Open and edit spreadsheets, text and code files, and make simple image designs. Everything stays in your browser.
A small, private editor that opens in its own browser tab. Edit spreadsheets, write text or code, or put together a simple image design, all without uploading anything. ⚠️ Please read: this is a very basic editor⚠️ 🔴 It is not a replacement for Excel, Apple Numbers or LibreOffice Calc. It's made for quick, casual edits. 🔴 Formula support is limited. Common functions like SUM, AVERAGE, IF and VLOOKUP work, but not every function is available and some formulas may not calculate. 🔴 Formatting is not kept. Styles, charts, pivot tables, conditional formatting, images and macros are dropped when you save. 🔴 Your original file is never changed. Saving downloads a new copy (for example report_edited.xlsx). ⚪ WHAT IT DOES Spreadsheets Open Excel, CSV, TSV, OpenDocument or Apple Numbers files, or start a blank sheet. Edit cells, add or delete rows, columns and sheets, use formulas such as =SUM(A1:A3), and save a copy. Password-protected Excel files can be opened too; they are decrypted on your computer. You can also import a Google Sheet from a share link, if it's shared as "Anyone with the link". Text and code Open any plain-text or code file in a lightweight editor with syntax colouring for dozens of languages. Designs A simple canvas for arranging images, text and shapes, which you can export as a PNG or JPG image. ⚪ HOW TO USE IT 1. Click the extension's icon. The editor opens in a new tab. 2. Click Open File or drag a file onto the home screen, or create a blank spreadsheet, text file or design. 3. Click a cell to edit it. Formulas start with =. 4. Click Save / Export to download your edited copy. ⚪ PRIVACY Everything runs locally in your browser. Your files, formulas and images are never sent to any server, and there are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The only time the extension goes online is when you use Import from Google Sheet: it then downloads that one sheet directly from docs.google.com, without using your Google sign-in. ⚫ OPEN SOURCE Free and open source under the GPLv3 licence. Built with HyperFormula, SheetJS, Konva and highlight.js. Source code, licences and details: https://github.com/rycpot/Minimal-Spreadsheet-Text-Design-Editor
