Overview

Unread badge and optional three-pane reader for your self-hosted Miniflux server.

Miniflux Companion Miniflux Companion is a Chrome and Chromium Manifest V3 extension for self-hosted Miniflux servers. It displays the unread-item count in the browser toolbar, opens the standard Miniflux interface, and optionally provides an enhanced three-pane reader. The extension communicates directly with the Miniflux server configured by the user. It does not require an intermediary service, cloud account, or external application backend. Features Toolbar badge showing the unread-item count Configurable refresh interval and badge colors Standard Miniflux interface with a configurable landing page Option to open a new tab or focus an existing Miniflux tab Optional enhanced three-pane reader Collapsible and resizable navigation, item, and article panes Persistent pane widths and layout preferences Category and feed navigation Feed and category maintenance Contextual search Read and unread controls Mark all visible items as read Automatic read filters using case-insensitive title keywords Bookmark support Keyboard navigation Light, dark, and system themes Configurable item limit Compatible with self-hosted Miniflux installations How it works The extension periodically queries the configured Miniflux server to update the toolbar badge. When the extension icon is clicked, it opens either the standard Miniflux interface or the enhanced reader, depending on the selected option. It can open a new tab or focus an existing Miniflux tab. The enhanced reader communicates with Miniflux through its API. Reading-state, bookmark, feed, and category changes are written back to the user’s Miniflux account and remain visible in the standard Miniflux interface and other Miniflux clients. Optional automatic-read filters can mark articles as read when their titles contain user-defined words or phrases. Matching is case-insensitive, and the articles remain stored in Miniflux. Privacy Miniflux Companion does not collect, sell, or share user data with the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, or other third parties. The extension communicates only with the Miniflux server configured by the user Non-secret preferences are stored using Chrome extension storage and may be synchronized by Chrome The Miniflux API token is stored only in local extension storage Reader layout preferences and favicon data may be cached locally in the browser No analytics, advertising, or tracking No remote executable code No external application service No developer-operated intermediary server License Miniflux Companion is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3.0 or, at your option, any later version.
