Overview

Middle click highlighted text to do a search with that text in a new tab.

Also, if the text is a URL or a even just a domain (Resource Name), it will go directly to the page. Check the options menu. Reload any open tabs after installing this extension for it take effect. https://github.com/DovieW/middle-click-search

I wanted it to search Kagi instead of Google. Would that be possible? Edit: Thank you so much for adding this!

Thanks for the review. I just pushed an update which adds a setting to the Options menu for the Search Engine. %s in the URL is the search term. So in the case of Kagi, you would use the following as the value: https://kagi.com/search?q=%s

Does exactly what it says. Two nice details is that it opens the search in a new adjacent tab and that clicking links with middle click still works fine. Two things that would be nice additions is that the search for the selected text does not open the tab in the background (like middle clicking a link does) and that for some reason it doesn't seem to work on Chrome sites (Like permissions, or the Chrome Web Store) for selected text.

Thanks for the review! I've added an option menu to select what the default behaviour should be. At all times, you can hold Ctrl while middle clicking to reverse it for that click. You can install the extension "Disable AutoScroll" if the autoscroll annoys you. Or you can hold shift while middle clicking. As for why it doesn't work on specific pages, it's simply because those pages are protected from Chrome Extensions. You can read about it here: https://superuser.com/a/1463284/1324825
