혹시 유튜브를 보다가 시간을 낭비한 경험 있으신가요? 유튜브에 영상 하나 보러 들어갔다가, 엉뚱한 쇼츠와 추천 영상에 푹 빠져 시간이 순삭된 경험, 다들 한 번쯤 있으시죠? 저도 그랬습니다. 알고리즘의 늪에서 헤매다 보면, 정작 해야 할 일은 뒷전이 되고, 시간과 집중력은 산산이 흩어지죠. '의지력이 부족해서 그래'라고 스스로를 탓하기만 하던 어느 날, 이 문제를 해결할 방법을 직접 만들어야겠다고 생각했습니다. 그렇게 탄생한 것이 바로 HideTube입니다. 크롬과 엣지 브라우저에서 모두 사용할 수 있는 웹 확장 프로그램입니다. HideTube는 단순한 차단 프로그램이 아닙니다. 유튜브가 제공하는 모든 '유혹'을 의도적으로 제거하여, 당신이 오직 하나의 목표에만 집중할 수 있도록 돕는 확장프로그램입니다. HideTube는 이렇게 도와드립니다. - 사용자 지정 숨기기: 피드와 탭의 Shorts, 동영상 추천, 댓글, 사이드바, 종료 화면 카드, 알림 벨, 동영상 플레이어 컨트롤 바까지 완벽하게 제어하고 숨길 수 있습니다. - 휴식 모드: 시간제 휴식이 필요하신가요? 팝업에서 타이머를 설정하세요. 설정한 시간 동안 확장 프로그램이 비활성화되며, 비디오 페이지에 남은 시간이 표시됩니다. 시간을 추가하거나 휴식을 조기에 중단할 수 있습니다. 휴식이 끝나면 알림(소리 선택 가능)으로 알려주어 다시 집중할 시간임을 알려줍니다. - 포커스 모드: 즉각적인 조치가 필요할 땐 페이지의 "Focus!" 버튼을 클릭하세요. 비디오가 일시정지되고 동기 부여 메시지가 나타납니다. 30초 카운트다운 후에는 탭이 자동으로 닫힙니다. - 키보드 단축키: - `h`: 확장 프로그램 전체를 ON/OFF 토글합니다. - `q`: 동영상 플레이어 컨트롤 바를 빠르게 숨기거나 표시합니다. - 다크/라이트 모드: 팝업은 시스템의 테마와 자동으로 동기화되어 눈을 편안하게 해줍니다. - 다국어 지원: UI는 한국어와 영어를 모두 지원합니다. Lost your focus to YouTube? It's time to take it back. Have you ever jumped on YouTube for one educational video, only to find two hours have vanished? It’s easy to get lost in a sea of Shorts and recommended videos, shattering the time and focus you need for what truly matters. This was my story, too. That's why I built the solution myself: HideTube, a Chrome Extension designed to put you back in control. Instead of blaming a lack of self-control, I believe in building better habits with the right tools. After I started using HideTube, I saw a dramatic increase in my ability to focus and enter a state of flow, free from unnecessary distractions. As a result, my productivity soared, and I started using my time with intention. Core Features of HideTube HideTube creates a distraction-free environment by shutting down all the pathways YouTube uses to keep you hooked. - Customizable Hiding: Take full control. Hide Shorts (in feed and tab), video recommendations, comments, sidebar, end-screen cards, the notification bell, and even the video player's control bar. - Break Mode: Need a timed break? Set a timer in the popup. The extension will turn off for the duration you set, showing a countdown on the video page. You can add time or stop the break early. A notification (and optional sound) will let you know when it's time to get back to focus. - Focus Mode: For an immediate intervention, click the "Focus!" button on the page. This will pause the video and show a motivational message, followed by a 30-second countdown, after which the tab will automatically close. - Keyboard Shortcuts: - `h`: Toggle the entire extension ON or OFF. - `q`: Quickly toggle the visibility of the video player's control bar. - Dark/Light Mode: The popup automatically syncs with your system's theme for comfortable viewing. - Multi-language Support: The UI is available in both English and Korean.
