Overview
Font finder: identify fonts on any website, see free Google Fonts alternatives to premium fonts, and swap them live.
What font is this? Click once and see every font on the page. For each premium font, FontSwap shows free alternatives ranked by similarity, and you can swap them in live to see how they look. How it works 1. Open any website and click the FontSwap icon. 2. See every font in use, with premium (paid) fonts marked. 3. Open a premium font to see its closest free alternatives, ranked by similarity. 4. Click Replace to preview the free font on the page. Click Undo to go back. What you get • Font finder: every font on the page, with its weights, the role it plays and where it is used. • Free alternatives: 370+ premium fonts mapped to 1,400+ ranked free matches, curated by FontAlternatives.com. • Live swap: preview a free alternative on the real page, without code. Undo anytime. • Inspector: click or right-click any text to see its full font stack and the exact type settings it uses. • Highlight: outline every element that uses a font. • Licence hints: see whether each font comes from a common web font service or is hosted by the site itself, and spot self-hosted premium fonts. • Accessibility check: WCAG AA contrast results per font. • Font loading: see how many font files the page loads and how much they weigh. • Bookmarks and export: save fonts for later and copy a report of the page's fonts for your notes or your code. • Side panel: keep FontSwap open while you browse. Who it is for Designers looking for an affordable match, developers who need a free font with the same feel, and anyone who wonders what font a site uses. Privacy No accounts and no ads. Font detection runs locally in your browser. FontSwap sends anonymous usage counts: installs, scans, swaps, undos, rating-prompt views and clicks, and which FontSwap link was clicked, each with a random install id, the extension version and the browser family. It never sends page addresses, sites, page content or font names. Turn this off anytime in FontSwap Options ("Share anonymous usage stats"); nothing is sent after that. FontSwap also loads a replacement font from Google Fonts when you preview one, and downloads the font database from FontAlternatives.com once a day. Links to FontAlternatives.com carry utm tags (utm_source=fontswap, and utm_content naming where in FontSwap the link was) so the site can count visits from the extension. Your saved fonts stay on this device and aren't shared with any website. Works in Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.
