Overview

Download helper for Fast Internet Downloader (FID)

Fast Internet Downloader connects Chrome to the FID desktop app for Windows, making it easy to send files directly to your download manager. Right-click download links, paste file URLs into the extension, or enable automatic capture for browser downloads. The desktop app manages your transfers with pause and resume, download queues, speed limits, and multiple connections where supported. What you can do: • Right-click a link and select “Download with Fast Internet Downloader.” • Enable “Capture Chrome downloads” to automatically send compatible downloads to FID. • Paste a file URL into the extension and select “Download file.” • Use your signed-in browser session for supported downloads that require an account. • Skip FID on selected websites so downloads from those domains stay in Chrome. Each domain and subdomain can be configured separately. How to get started: 1. Install the Fast Internet Downloader desktop app for Windows 10 or 11. 2. Click the extension icon and select “Connect / open FID.” 3. Choose “Open FID and connect,” allow Chrome to open the app, and approve the one-time connection in FID. 4. When the extension shows “Desktop connected,” you’re ready to download. For each new download, FID lets you review the filename and save location, then choose “Start download” or “Download later.” Automatic Chrome download capture is disabled by default. Enable it from the extension whenever you want FID to manage your browser downloads. This extension requires the FID desktop app for Windows.
