Gloss Clipper

Save words from video subtitles, with the line, the scene and the voice, to your flashcards. Requires the Gloss iPhone app.

**Requires the Gloss app for iOS.** Gloss Clipper sends what you clip to your own Gloss account, so you need the Gloss app installed and paired with this extension (a six-character code from the app) before it does anything. Gloss Clipper turns a moment in a video into a Gloss flashcard. Watch something with subtitles. When a word stops you, press the shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+X), tap the words you didn't know, and save. The card keeps the subtitle line, a still of the scene, the real audio of that line and a short definition, and it's on your phone the next time you open Gloss. • Works with most streaming and video sites that show subtitles, and with your own media server. • Knows what you're watching: clips are filed under the show and episode, not just the site's name. • Finds the language for you. If the subtitles are French, the clip goes to your French cards. • Trim the audio to exactly the line you heard, and play it back before you save. • Never loses a clip. Clips that can't be sent yet wait and retry, and anything the server can't accept is kept and shown to you. • You choose every clip. Nothing leaves your browser until you press Save. Pair once: the Gloss app shows a six-character code, you type it into the extension, and that's the whole setup. Gloss Clipper is based on asbplayer (MIT licence).
