Overview

Shows live metadata of the images, PDFs, Office documents and media you open; finds GPS, author and hidden data and removes it.

MetaLens shows what a file says about itself the moment you open it. Open an image, PDF, video or audio file in a tab and a small panel appears in the corner with the GPS location, the camera or phone model, the capture date, the author and the software that produced the file. Click the panel for the full report. WHAT IT DOES • Live panel on image, PDF, video and audio tabs. The toolbar badge turns red or orange when something sensitive is found. • Page scan: analyzes every image, document and media file on a web page and lists them with the riskiest first. The list can be exported as CSV. • Clean & download: saves a copy of the file with the metadata removed. Pixels, audio and page layout stay untouched, and the result shows exactly what was removed and what remains. • Reports: copy as text, or download as JSON or a single HTML file. • Right-click any image, video or file link to inspect it without leaving the page. • Drag one or more files into the viewer to check them locally. WHAT IT READS Images: EXIF with GPS and camera details, embedded thumbnails, XMP edit history, IPTC, colour profiles, PNG text fields, and data hidden after the end of the file. PDF: author, creator application, dates, document ID, revisions, fonts, page size, XMP, EXIF of images placed inside the document, attachments, and indicators such as JavaScript, auto-run actions and embedded files. PDFs that open without a password are decrypted and analyzed. Office and OpenDocument: author, last editor, company, total editing time, comment and tracked-change authors, hidden sheets, the folder a spreadsheet was saved in, macros, remote template references and links to network paths. Video and audio: recording location, device make and model, creation time, tracks and codecs, ID3 and Vorbis tags, cover art, and recording details in Broadcast WAV files. PRIVACY Everything is parsed locally in your browser. There is no server, no account and no tracking. The only network request is downloading the file you are inspecting from the site it is already on. Files you drop into the viewer never leave your computer. The interface is available in English and Turkish, and follows your browser language. Open source under the MIT license: https://github.com/gorkemguler/MetaLens
