Overview

Set a time in Google Calendar and see the time in Berlin, Tokyo or anywhere you meet, and whether it's a good hour there.

Scheduling across time zones? See what time it is for everyone, right where you set the meeting. When you set an event's time in Google Calendar, Meridian shows a small chip beside it with the time in each place you meet: Berlin 6 pm · Tokyo 2 am Wed Each place gets a coloured dot for the whole meeting, not just its start: green when it fits that place's working hours, amber when it starts early or runs late, red at night, on that place's weekend or on a public holiday there. No more doing time-zone sums in your head, or finding out after the invite has gone that it lands at 2 am, on a Friday in Dubai, or on Thanksgiving for someone. Click the chip to see: • each place's time, and why it is or isn't a good time ("Ends 6:30 pm", "Thanksgiving Day", "Saturday there") • the nearest time that suits everyone, a week either side • Use this time: one click moves the event there, and Undo moves it back • your guests: say where each one is once (or confirm Meridian's guess from a .de or .co.uk address) and every later invite with them shows their time, remembered on your computer only • your places, to add to or take off without leaving the event • a link to Meridian's meeting planner to find the fairest hour It stays out of your way: it never covers Calendar's own buttons or menus, shrinks to a few dots when space is tight, and keeps quiet when it can't be sure. Every time is worked out for that exact day, clock changes included, even in the weeks when the US and Europe change on different dates. Events kept in another time zone are read on their own clock. Public holidays cover over 200 countries, and each place keeps its own weekend. How to use it: 1. Click the Meridian icon and pick your city, up to four places you meet, and your hours (usual, early bird, night owl or any waking hour). 2. Open Google Calendar on the web and create or edit an event. 3. The chip appears beside the start time and updates as you change it. Privacy: the extension reads only the start, end, time zone and guests' addresses of the event you're editing, on the page. It doesn't read your other events or email, and guests' addresses never leave your computer. Your places are kept in your browser; Meridian is asked for their public holidays by place alone. When you open the chip's panel, the start time, length and your places are sent to Meridian to find a time that suits everyone; Meridian doesn't store them.
