Shows merchant category codes and descriptions when you hover over transactions on supported credit card websites.

See the merchant category code behind your credit card transactions. Merchant Lens adds a hover tooltip to supported Capital One and Rogers Bank transaction pages. It displays the four-digit merchant category code (MCC), merchant type and category description supplied by the bank. This helps you understand how a merchant was classified when checking category-based credit card rewards. CURRENTLY SUPPORTED • Capital One: myaccounts.capitalone.com • Rogers Bank: selfserve.rogersbank.com HOW TO USE 1. Sign in to your bank normally and open its transaction page. 2. Hover over a transaction for 300 milliseconds. 3. Read its bank-reported MCC and category information. Click the Merchant Lens toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+M to toggle tooltips. The icon is neon green when enabled and grey with an OFF label when disabled. PRIVACY Merchant Lens processes transaction information locally. It makes no additional banking requests and does not upload transaction data. There are no analytics, advertisements or separate Merchant Lens accounts. Temporary matching data includes merchant name, amount, dates, transaction status, MCC, category information, card last-four digits and, for Rogers Bank, cardholder name when supplied. Transaction metadata stays in bounded tab-memory caches with a 30-minute expiry policy. The cache continues operating while tooltips are off so re-enabling can work without refreshing. Only the enabled/disabled preference is saved between browser sessions. LIMITATIONS Only transactions loaded by the supported bank page can be inspected. Transactions without an MCC, or with ambiguous matches, may not show a tooltip. English transaction layouts are currently supported. Merchant classification does not guarantee reward eligibility; your card issuer’s terms determine rewards.
