Overview
Softens anxiety-inducing headlines, text and images, and offers to go through heavy emails together with Suvi from Meloa.
The news is designed to be alarming and your inbox does not care how your day is going. Meloa's extension puts a little distance between you and both of them — without hiding anything from you, and without sending anything anywhere. SOFTEN WHAT'S HEAVY On major news sites, anything that reads as catastrophic is gently blurred in place — headlines, the paragraphs under them, and the photographs beside them. Nothing is removed, nothing is rewritten, and nothing is decided for you: every softened thing carries a "Show" button, and one click brings it back. You get to choose what you take on, instead of absorbing it before you had a say. WORKS WHEREVER YOU NEED IT Major news sites work the moment you install it. Anywhere else — a forum, a subreddit, a work wiki — open the site, click the Meloa icon, and choose "Soften this site". You grant access one site at a time, you can see exactly what you've granted, and you can take it back from the same button. Meloa never asks for the run of your whole browser. ONE SWITCH The toolbar icon is an on/off switch. If something is softened that you need to read right now, it's one click to turn the whole thing off, and one to turn it back on. A HEADS-UP BEFORE THE HARD EMAILS In your inbox, a subject line that reads tense is softened before you open it, so the first you know about it is not the blow itself. Open it and the message stays softened, with a note above saying what KIND of difficult it looks like — health, money, housing, work, or news about someone. You decide whether to read it now, read it with Suvi, or leave it for later. That category is worked out on your own device from which words matched. It is never a summary of what the message says: producing one would mean sending your email somewhere, and that is the one thing this extension does not do. Nothing is deleted, archived, or marked read. If you say yes, Suvi opens in your own Meloa account with that message ready to talk through — what it is actually asking, what is urgent and what only feels urgent, and what you might say back. ANYTHING ELSE YOU'RE STUCK ON Select any text on any page, right-click, and choose "Go through this with Suvi". EVERYTHING IS READ ON YOUR OWN DEVICE This is the part worth being specific about. The extension decides what looks heavy using a fixed word list that ships inside it and runs entirely in your browser. We never receive the headlines you read. We never receive your email. We do not know what you looked at, and there is nothing for us to know: no analytics, no tracking, no remote code, no server call in that path at all. The only text that ever leaves your computer is a passage you explicitly choose to discuss with Suvi — and it goes to your own signed-in Meloa account, the same way anything you type into Suvi does. WHAT YOU NEED The softening works on its own, on any plan, with or without an account, and costs nothing to use however much you use it. Going through something together with Suvi requires a Meloa account, and is part of Meloa Pro. The extension tells you which of those applies before you click, not after. Meloa is an anxiety-aware calendar that reserves the hours before and after something you are dreading, then asks how it actually went. meloa.io
