Overview

Closes the tabs left behind after a video meeting: Zoom, Teams, Meet and nine more. Optionally Telegram and CLI sign-in pages.

A video meeting leaves a tab behind. Sometimes it is an empty launcher page that opened the desktop app. Sometimes it is a room you have already left. Either way, nobody remembers to close it. This extension closes them for you. No prompts, no badges, no popups. ━━ WHICH MEETINGS ━━ Twelve video-conferencing services; the full list is on the options page and in the screenshots. Five work right after install: the ones where the meeting link launches a desktop app. The other seven run the call in the browser itself and therefore need access to their site: each one is switched on with its own checkbox on the options page, the extension asks for access at that moment and gives it back when you untick the box. ━━ WHEN A TAB IS LEFT ALONE ━━ Any one of these keeps the tab alive: • you are looking at it right now; • it holds a live WebRTC connection — meaning you are in the meeting; • it holds your camera, microphone or screen — you are joining or waiting in the lobby; • it is making sound; • it is playing video; • the tab is pinned. ━━ WHY THIS IS SAFE ━━ For many services the meeting link and the call itself live at the very same address, so the URL cannot tell them apart. The extension therefore watches the connection rather than the address: every browser-based conferencing product runs on WebRTC. While the connection is alive the tab stays. Once it is gone, either the meeting ended or the call moved to the desktop app — and the tab is no longer needed. Meeting lists and dashboards are left alone: the extension only ever looks at the addresses of the rooms themselves. ━━ DATA ━━ The extension makes no network requests whatsoever. No analytics, no telemetry, no accounts. Two things are stored on your device: your switches and a counter of closed tabs. Page content is neither read nor modified. ━━ PERMISSIONS ━━ At install time access is requested only for five services. Everything else is granted by you explicitly, one platform at a time. The extension does not ask for the "tabs" permission, which would hand it the addresses of every tab you have open — it does not need that, and you do not want it to have it. ━━ ━━ ━━ Unofficial extension. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by any of the services mentioned; their names are used solely to indicate compatibility.
