Meeting Chat Saver — Chat History for Google Meet
Overview
Auto-save Google Meet chat history locally. Search, pin, export as txt/md/csv/html/json & track attendance — private, no account.
Meeting Chat Saver automatically records and keeps a permanent history of your Google Meet chat — even after the meeting ends and Google clears it. WHY YOU NEED THIS Google Meet deletes the in-meeting chat the moment the call ends. If you didn't copy-paste it in time, links, notes, and action items shared in chat are gone for good. Meeting Chat Saver fixes that by saving every message locally as it arrives. KEY FEATURES • Automatic capture — a lightweight content script watches the Meet chat panel and saves new messages the instant they appear, no clicks required • Auto-opens the chat panel — opens Meet's chat once when you join so the full message history renders and gets captured (can be turned off in Settings) • Organized by meeting — chats are grouped by meeting link, so rejoining the same call later appends to the same saved history • Session view — recurring meetings on one link are automatically split into readable sessions when there's a long gap between calls • Search across all meetings — quickly find a message, sender, meeting, or your own note by keyword from the extension popup • Pin & take notes — star important meetings to keep them at the top of the list, and attach a free-text note to any meeting • Attendance tracking — see who was in the meeting and roughly how long they stayed, built from the same local activity the extension already watches • Export anytime — download any meeting's chat as .txt, .md (Markdown), .csv (spreadsheet), .html (web page), or .json (structured data) • Copy to clipboard — copy a full transcript in one click • Rename meetings — give saved meetings custom titles so they're easy to find later • Settings page — pause recording anytime, exclude specific meetings from ever being recorded, and see (or clear) how much you've saved • 100% private and local — everything is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). Nothing is uploaded, no account or sign-in required, no external servers involved HOW IT WORKS Once installed, the extension quietly watches meet.google.com while you're in a call. It also opens the chat panel once per meeting so Meet renders the full message history. Click the extension icon anytime to browse, search, pin, export, or delete your saved meetings, or open Settings to control what gets recorded. PERMISSIONS • storage / unlimitedStorage — to save chat messages, notes, and attendance data locally on your device, without Chrome's default storage limit cutting off long or frequent meetings • meet.google.com access — to read chat and participant info from the page you're actively in LIMITATIONS • Messages sent before you joined can only be captured if Meet still displays them when you open the chat panel • Attendance times are a best-effort estimate based on visible participants, not an official record • Uninstalling the extension removes its locally saved data — export anything you want to keep first
