Medium to Markdown
Overview
One-click download the Medium article you're viewing as a clean Markdown file.
Convert any Medium article to a clean Markdown file with one click. Click the toolbar icon or use the right-click menu on any Medium article. The extension extracts the article content directly from the page, converts it to well-structured Markdown, and downloads it to your computer. No external services, no tracking, no account needed. WHAT YOU GET • YAML frontmatter with title, author, published date, source URL, and reading time • Proper heading hierarchy (Medium uses <h2> for both headings and subheadings — this extension detects the difference and emits ## / ### correctly) • Fenced code blocks with best-effort language detection • Clean inline formatting: bold, italic, inline code, links • Bullet and numbered lists with nesting • Images with normalized Medium CDN URLs • No Medium UI chrome leaking into your output THREE WAYS TO USE IT 1. Click the toolbar icon (or press Cmd+Shift+M / Ctrl+Shift+M) 2. Right-click → Medium to Markdown → Save as Markdown 3. Right-click → Medium to Markdown → Copy as Markdown (copies to clipboard) Also includes "Save raw HTML" for archiving the original page. Works on medium.com and Medium-hosted publications on custom domains (e.g. javascript.plainenglish.io, towardsdatascience.com). The conversion runs entirely in your browser. No data leaves your machine. Open source: https://github.com/johnhamilto/medium-to-md
