Overview
Check any cosmetic doctor as you browse: credentials, verifiable patient ratings, and public industry-payment disclosures.
Choosing a cosmetic doctor is one of the highest-stakes consumer decisions you'll ever make. It's your face. Your body. Your health. And yet the research process is a mess: credentials scattered across a dozen sites, star ratings that mysteriously disagree with each other, glowing testimonials with no way to check where they came from — and financial relationships between doctors and drug & device companies that almost nobody thinks to look up. MedCheck puts a background check for cosmetic doctors one click away, on every page you browse. You're reading a surgeon's website. Scrolling their Instagram. Comparing profiles on a review site. Click the MedCheck icon and it reads the page, finds the doctor's name, and instantly shows you what the public record actually says — powered by NavMDs, a directory of more than 7,400 U.S. cosmetic doctors. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT YOU'LL SEE ★ RATINGS YOU CAN ACTUALLY VERIFY Anyone can put "5 stars" on their own website. MedCheck shows you a combined patient rating built from real review platforms — Google, Yelp, RealSelf, hospital systems and more — and then does something almost no rating site does: it shows you each platform's individual score, review count, and a direct link to that platform. Don't trust our average. Click through and check every number yourself. That's the point. 💵 FOLLOW THE MONEY Under the federal Sunshine Act, drug and device manufacturers must report every payment they make to physicians — consulting fees, speaking fees, royalties, meals, travel. It's all in the U.S. government's CMS Open Payments database, but almost no patient ever looks. MedCheck surfaces it automatically: total dollars, number of payments, the largest payment category, the top-paying company, and a link to the doctor's official federal record. Some doctors receive nothing. Some receive millions. A payment isn't proof of anything improper — it's public disclosure — but shouldn't you know that the doctor recommending a product has a financial relationship with the company that makes it? 🎓 CREDENTIALS, HONESTLY LABELED MedCheck shows each doctor's specialty and credentials as reported in public sources — and it's honest about what that means. Where our own registry cross-checks contradict a board-certification claim, we strip the claim rather than repeat it. We'd rather show you less and have it be dependable than decorate every profile with badges nobody checked. 🔎 DOCTOR NOT LISTED? WE'LL GO FIND THEM If you check a doctor who isn't in the directory yet, one click sends a research request to the NavMDs team. We'll investigate, build the profile, and — if you leave your email — let you know when it's live. The directory gets stronger every time someone asks. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS 1. Browse anywhere a doctor is mentioned — their practice site, a review platform, a news article, search results. 2. Click the MedCheck icon. It detects the doctor's name automatically (or highlight a name first, or just type one). 3. Get the snapshot in seconds — and click through to the full NavMDs profile, the source review platforms, or the federal payments record. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY BY DESIGN MedCheck was built the way extensions should be: • It reads a page ONLY at the moment you click the icon. No background scripts. No tracking as you browse. • It collects no browsing history and builds no profile of you. • It stores nothing beyond a 10-minute lookup cache in memory. • It communicates with exactly one service: navmds.com. • The only personal data it ever handles is an email address you optionally type into the request form. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHO IT'S FOR Anyone researching a rhinoplasty, facelift, liposuction, tummy tuck, Botox, fillers, laser treatments — or the person who'll perform them. If you've ever had six tabs open trying to figure out whether a surgeon is as good as their website says, MedCheck is the seventh tab you won't need. Check the doctor before the doctor checks you in. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ MedCheck is built by NavMDs (navmds.com), a free directory that helps patients research, compare, and book cosmetic doctors across the United States. MedCheck presents public information for research purposes; it is not medical advice and not a substitute for verifying credentials with state medical boards or certifying organizations. Industry-payment data comes from the CMS Open Payments program and reflects the most recent program year on record.
