MDLite - Ultralight Markdown Viewer
Overview
Drag and read. MDLite turns any .md file into a clean, navigable page with a live table of contents — instant and local.
Drag and read. MDLite is an ultralight Markdown viewer for Chrome. Open any .md file — local, or a raw file straight from the web — and instead of a plain wall of monospace text, you get a clean, readable page with a live table of contents built from your headings. WHAT IT DOES - Renders standard Markdown (headings, lists, code blocks, links, and more) the moment a .md file loads - Builds a collapsible, nested table of contents automatically from your headings - Lets you adjust font size (A- / A+) and reading width (W- / W+) on the fly, with a one-click Reset (R) - Toggles on and off with a single click on the toolbar icon — when it's off, the icon turns gray with an "OFF" badge and you see the original raw file WORKS EVERYWHERE YOU READ MARKDOWN - Local files opened with file:// (e.g. README.md on your machine) - Raw Markdown served over http/https, including GitHub raw links BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY MDLite has no accounts, no settings pages to configure, and no network calls of its own — rendering happens locally in your browser, using your files only to display them back to you. It remembers your last font size, width, and on/off preference between sessions using Chrome's local storage. WHY MARKDOWN NEEDS A VIEWER Chrome shows .md files as raw, unstyled text. MDLite turns that into something you'd actually want to read — useful for browsing documentation, changelogs, notes, or any Markdown you keep around, without opening a separate app.
