Overview

Translate words on web pages and in video subtitles, save them to your vault and review them with quick quizzes.

Meet a word you don't know, double-click it, and keep reading. Wordvault translates it on the spot, saves it to your own word list, and brings it back in short quizzes until it sticks. Wordvault is a translation extension built for vocabulary learning: instead of looking words up and forgetting them, you collect them while you read and review them a few at a time. TRANSLATE WITHOUT LEAVING THE PAGE • Double-click any word to see its translation right next to it, and listen to how it is pronounced. • Select a sentence or a whole paragraph and translate it from the right-click menu, the small "Translate" button beside your selection, or a keyboard shortcut. • On YouTube, point at a word in the captions to translate it without stopping to search. • Text you can't select? Pause the video or open the image, drag a box over the text, and the words become clickable. The text is read on your own device (English and Turkish text). • Translations come from MyMemory, a free translation service, out of the box. If you have a DeepL API key, you can use DeepL instead. BUILD YOUR OWN VOCABULARY VAULT • One click on "Add to vault" saves the word together with the sentence you found it in, plus definitions and example sentences from Wiktionary. • Search and filter your vault by language, and keep phrases apart from single words. • Export it to a file whenever you like, and import it on another browser. REVIEW WITH FLASHCARD QUIZZES • Every now and then, Wordvault asks you about a few saved words: as a small card on the page, in the toolbar window, or in a separate window. You choose how often, and when it should stay quiet. • Four ways to practise: pick the meaning from four, type the word, listen and pick, or listen and type. • Spaced repetition: words you miss come back sooner, words you know come back less and less often. • A word counts as learned only after several right answers on different days, so progress means something. • A daily goal, a streak and ranks from Rookie to Legend show how far you have come. An optional evening reminder nudges you if the day's quiz is still open. OPTIONAL AI FEATURES (off until you connect a provider) These need your own AI provider: an API key from Google Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, NVIDIA or any OpenAI-compatible service, or Ollama running on your own computer (no key needed). Wordvault is not affiliated with any of them; any cost is between you and the provider you pick, and Wordvault never charges for it. • "Explain with AI": the meaning of a word, sentence or passage in context. • "Ask about the image": ask a question about an area of the screen. • "Summarise this page" and "Translate this page with AI". Before anything is sent, a card shows how much text it is and where it goes; a translated page can always be switched back. • "Create a test with AI": a printable A4 practice test (fill in the blanks, true or false) made from words in your vault, with an answer key. Check it on screen or print it. Your API key stays in your browser and is sent only to the provider it belongs to. AI features are switched off on sites that look like banking, e-mail or health sites. OPTIONAL SYNC ACROSS DEVICES Keep your vault in step on several computers with your browser's own sync, your own Google Drive, or your own WebDAV server. Google Drive needs your Google account; the file goes into a hidden folder only Wordvault can see, and it can be protected with a password of your choice. Sync is off until you turn it on. PRIVACY No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Your vault lives in your browser; Wordvault has no server that receives your words or the pages you visit. Only the text you ask to have translated goes to the translation service. Screenshots for text scanning are read on your device and not stored. The feedback form shows exactly what it will send, and sends it only when you press "Send". Full details: [PRIVACY_POLICY_URL] The interface is available in English and Turkish. Wordvault is free, with no paid tier. If it helps you learn, there is an optional "Support the project" link in the settings.
