MD Glide turns local Markdown files into formatted documents directly in Chrome. Drag a .md file from your computer into a Chrome tab and start reading—without opening the extension first or uploading your document. View and edit local files offline, preview changes side by side, and save back to disk. Read README files, project documentation, notes, and drafts without leaving your browser. READ, EDIT AND SAVE • Open from URL: paste a public raw Markdown or GitHub file link into the toolbar popup. • Drag directly into Chrome: drop a local .md file onto a Chrome tab to view it formatted. • Read and edit offline: work with local documents without an internet connection. • Preview while editing: use split view with synchronized scrolling. Large documents offer an Update preview button to keep editing responsive. • Save local files: choose your file on first save, then save changes back to it, with optional auto-save. For online documents, keep edits with Download .md. • Live reload: see changes saved to a local file by another editor. • Update task checkboxes directly in the preview. HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES • Select passages and highlight them in yellow, green, blue, or pink. • Save notes, search your highlights, and jump back to a passage. • Reopen the same file or URL to restore saved highlights on this device. Annotations stay separate from your source file and do not sync across devices. • Export highlights and notes as Markdown, or include highlighted passages in HTML and PDF exports. RICH DOCUMENTS, COMFORTABLE READING • GitHub Flavored Markdown with tables, task lists, alerts, footnotes, and highlighted code. • Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX math. • Table of contents, collapsible sections, and a command palette. • Dark mode, reading themes, custom CSS, and adjustable fonts, text size, and page width. EXPORT AND SHARE • Export standalone HTML. • Save as PDF through Chrome’s print dialog. • Copy formatted text to paste into documents or email. GET STARTED 1. Install MD Glide and follow the setup guide to turn on “Allow access to file URLs” in the extension’s Details page. 2. Drag a .md file from your computer onto a Chrome tab. 3. Read, switch to Split or Edit mode, and save your changes locally. You can also click the extension icon to open or drop a file, paste text, or start a new document. On supported raw .md web pages, choose “Render as Markdown”; automatic rendering is available for individual sites you allow. PRIVACY AND OFFLINE USE No account or developer analytics. Documents are rendered in your browser and are not uploaded to the developer. Local viewing and editing work offline. Remote images and external resources referenced by documents or custom CSS require an internet connection. Preferences may sync through Chrome. Saved highlights and notes stay on this device; delete them from the Highlights panel. Uninstalling the extension removes saved annotations.
