Unbinge is a free Chrome and Edge extension that turns YouTube into a calmer place to learn. Instead of trying to block every bad video after it appears, Unbinge starts from an allowlist: with a filter mode (Explore or Focus) on, only channels on the shared educational list (plus any you approve on this device) can open. WHAT UNBINGE DOES • Filter modes — Off plays everything as usual. Explore allows study channels plus curiosity picks. Focus allows study channels only. Unapproved pages show Unbinge's blocked screen; Shorts pages are blocked in both modes. • YouTube Restricted Mode — While a filter mode (Explore or Focus) is on, Unbinge also enables YouTube's own Restricted Mode and keeps it on. With the mode set to Off, Restricted Mode is turned off again. Restricted Mode is YouTube's filter; Unbinge's allowlist is separate and still enforced. • Distraction settings — Optionally hide Shorts, recommendations, comments, end screens, trending, the homepage feed, autoplay, and similar UI. Each toggle is independent; sensitive ones are PIN-gated. A master switch turns filtering off without uninstalling. • Profiles — Kids and General (13+). Kids start in Focus behind a required parent PIN; General (13+) starts in Explore with an optional PIN. Switch profiles anytime in the popup. • Local approve — Paste a channel link in the popup for immediate access on this device. That request is also sent for global review. • Suggest without installing — Anyone can submit a channel or video at https://unbinge.watch/submit.php. A website submission does not unlock the channel in your browser until you install Unbinge and approve it locally, or until it is added to the global list and you sync. • Whitelist sync — Manual sync in the popup with a 6-hour cooldown, plus weekly background sync. • Light and dark theme — Follows the system or a toggle in the popup. WHAT UNBINGE DOES NOT DO • It is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. • It is not a replacement for YouTube Kids. • An "approved" channel does not mean every video is guaranteed suitable for every child. Channels change; parents and teachers should still use their judgement. • It does not hide every possible YouTube element. YouTube's layout changes. Distraction filters cover the controls listed in the popup. • Ad blocking is not included in this version. HOW TO GET STARTED 1. Install Unbinge from this listing. 2. Choose Kids or General (13+). Kids installs set a parent PIN. 3. Pick a mode: Focus for study channels only, Explore for a wider curated shelf, or Off for normal YouTube. 4. Sync when you want the latest approved channels. 5.
