Material Test Grid for Glowforge

Build a Proofgrade-centered speed and power grid with cut, score and SD Graphic engraving.

Since Glowforge (still) does not have a built-in material test grid feature, I built this Chrome extension to implement such feature. Material Test Grid creates a labeled speed-and-power grid around the Proofgrade material selected in your Glowforge Pro design. Start with a 5 × 5 grid, keep the selected speed and power at the center, and compare small changes around it. • Choose 3 × 3, 5 × 5, 7 × 7 or 9 × 9. • Test Cut, SD Graphic engraving and Score, separately or together. Cut and Engrave start on; Score starts off. • Adjust speed and power increments independently for each test. Power increments default to 5. • Add the grid artwork and matching test settings to your open design, alongside any existing artwork or tests. • Choose 1, 2 or 3 passes for Cut; the default is 1. • Closed cut outlines by default, with optional retaining tabs to keep samples attached. • Keep Full power distinct from precision power 100. Settings outside the available range are omitted. The grid’s speed and power labels use Score, even when Score tests are off. Review the artwork and settings in Glowforge before printing. The extension does not click Print or Set Focus. Opening the extension on an empty new-design page creates a saved editor when Glowforge is ready. Adding a grid to an existing design preserves its artwork and settings. Requires the Glowforge Pro web editor at app.glowforge.com and a selected supported Proofgrade material. Add a grid to a new design or alongside your existing artwork and tests. Check material settings and physical results for your own machine and stock. No analytics, advertising or extra extension account. Preferences and insertion-recovery information stay in local Chrome storage. The extension uses the Glowforge tab selected when you open it.
