)Overview
Render a local markdown file for easy reading.
Read markdown files the way they're meant to look — right in Chrome. Markdown Renderer opens any .md file from your computer and shows it as clean, formatted text in a new tab. FEATURES • GitHub-style formatting: headings, tables, task lists, quotes, links and images • Syntax highlighting for code blocks in all common languages • Outline menu (☰) to jump to any heading • Light and dark themes that follow your system setting • Relative images (like images/diagram.png) load when you type the file path • Works fully offline — no account, no tracking, no data collected HOW TO USE 1. Click the extension icon to open the viewer. 2. Type or paste a file path (e.g. C:\Users\me\Documents\notes.md) and press Enter, or click Browse… to pick a file. 3. Click Render after editing the file to see the latest version. ONE-TIME SETUP To open files by typing their path, go to chrome://extensions, open Markdown Renderer's Details, and turn on "Allow access to file URLs". Browse… works without this. Embedded HTML in markdown files is sanitized, so scripts and other unsafe content never run.
