Markdown Render
Overview
Render local and web Markdown files with a polished reading view, TOC, callouts, Mermaid diagrams, and light/dark themes.
Markdown Render turns raw Markdown into a styled reading view inside the tab. It works on local files (file://) and on web responses served as raw Markdown or plain text. It does not touch already-rendered HTML pages, so it does not take over GitHub, GitLab, or Forgejo Markdown viewers. Features: - Styled reading view for Markdown documents. - Table of contents generated from headings. - GitHub-style callouts and admonitions. - Mermaid diagrams, rendered from fenced code blocks. - Syntax highlighting for code blocks. - Task-list checkboxes. - Light, dark, and system themes. - Conservative detection: on the web it only takes over a raw text/Markdown response, never a rendered HTML page. Privacy and data: - Reads the current page's Markdown text only to render it locally in the tab. - Stores only a theme preference (light/dark/system) via chrome.storage. - Transmits nothing off-device. No analytics, no telemetry, no runtime network requests. - Mermaid and highlight.js are bundled locally. No CDN and no remote code. Open source, licensed GPL-3.0-or-later. It collects no data.
