MarkBench
Overview
Privacy-first bookmark refactor utility (Side Panel).
MarkBench helps you clean up years of bookmark clutter — without uploading your links to the cloud. Import a bookmark file (bookmarks.html) or read bookmarks already in your browser, then review everything in a fast, scrollable workbench. Built-in rules sort links into tidy folders; optional Google Gemini AI (your own API key) can suggest categories for anything still uncategorised. Private by design • Import, edit, and export run entirely on your device. • Your bookmark lists stay in local extension storage. • AI is off by default and only runs when you turn it on and add your own key. What you can do • Work with large libraries (tested with 10,000+ bookmarks) • Find duplicates, bookmarklets, device-only links, and archived items • Change categories in bulk, drag to reorder, edit titles and links inline • Export as HTML or CSV • Save to browser — replace your bookmarks bar or add a MarkBench - Organised folder, with an optional backup file first Requirements • Chrome 114 or newer (side panel) • Bookmarks permission (to read and write bookmarks when you choose to save) On install, a welcome tab opens with import options. Click the toolbar icon anytime to open the side panel.
