So far, the extension is working great for the 50 or so tabs I end up at the end of the day. I do have one feature request to make. I have one group of tabs that the name defaults to #, all the titles in #<Number>. I see I can set the name, but after a while, it reverts back to the # symbol. Can we somehow force the name change to stick?

Mark tab manager is fully automatic and as a result doesn't factor in any existing groups you may have created prior to installing it or while it's running. It's quite opinionated and only for those who want a fully automated tab grouping experience which I understand may not be everyone.

Seemed promising but didn't work for me. The tabs kept moving out of tab groups I made and no matter what the settings were nothing would stop it. I created new groups and added tabs to those groups. Clicked the save the group toggle. And when I would click on another tab in a different group or outside of any group it would remove the tabs from the previous group and set them outside of all groups. I changed the settings to not auto group and that didn't help. To make matters extremely wors... Show more

Sorry it didn't end up working for your use case in the end. To clarify how Mark tab manager works, it doesn't factor in any custom or existing groups that you might have manually created. It's only for those who prefer a fully automatic tab grouping experience. In regard to uninstalling, that's a function of the browser and has nothing to do with the extension itself. When you uninstall the extension your tabs will still be categorized according to the last state when Mark was installed but from that point forward any changes you make manually will hold. Hopefully that makes sense and you were able to get things back to where they were before install.

An excellent extension that automatically sorts or groups tabs! But the menu is missing an important item - “Open domains in different windows”, as implemented in Tab Aligner.

Thanks for the review and recommendation, I'll consider adding that behaviour in the future. One thing to mention in case it wasn't clear. Mark does support maintaining separate windows if the "Force window consolidation" option is unchecked. When unchecked, each window will be treated separately, and groups that are the same across any number of windows won't be merged.

Really like this, but it tends to get stuck. Noticed I had it open a few days opened some new tabs from the same domain and it never grouped them. Also when I closed a few tabs in a group the number stayed the same. Toggling it on and off on the extension manager seemed to fix it. Otherwise its awesome!

Thanks for the review Dale. If you're able to reproduce this "stuck" behaviour feel free to shoot me an email so I can try my best to reproduce it and fix it. Mark is stateless and reorganizes often (eg. on tab update, on new tab open, etc) so by design this "stuck" state should resolve itself relatively quickly when browsing normally. You can also click the extension icon to trigger a manual reorganization or by using the shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+O". As you pointed out, reloading the extension manually in the "chrome://extensions" panel usually works if all else fails.
