Overview

Clip pages, AI chats, and RSS articles to Markdown. Edit in New Tab & Side Panel. Export PDF, DOCX, PNG. Local-first.

Mark It Down — Your browser, a writing desk. Instant Markdown editor. Just open a tab. 100% local. No account needed. Take in an AI answer. Rewrite it in your own words. Send the finished note out. We didn't add AI writing, cloud sync, or an account wall. We built a fast, local editor instead — and everything you write here, you can always take back out. No hostages. Entry: Web Clipper — right-click any page or AI chat, preview it, then edit it in the Side Panel — right next to the chat it came from New Tab — open a tab and start writing. Search notes instantly from the address bar (`mid` + Space) Repository Reader — read a GitHub repository of Markdown notes with the links between them intact, and import what you need Edit: Slash commands and a floating toolbar — rich formatting without learning Markdown syntax Diagrams, math, tables, and code — rendered as you type Command Palette — insert diagrams, tables, badges, and footnotes without leaving the keyboard Find & Replace — across one note, or every note at once Note Log — write down why you changed something, right inside the note Link graph — see how your notes connect, and jump between them Pin a note's detail panel to read it without losing your place Toggle raw Markdown anytime to check the syntax underneath Focus Mode — keep the current line centered and distractions out of view Four themes — choose a writing surface that matches your environment Keyboard-first controls — move, format, and export without reaching for the mouse Move: One keypress for folders, Git, or a new note — no mouse required Four fixed folders keep things from piling up: Inbox, Template, Archive, Trash Exit: Export to PDF, DOCX, HTML, PNG, Markdown, and more — one note or a hundred Portability Hub — convert Markdown to match wherever you're publishing Copy as Rich Text — paste formatted text into docs and email EPUB export — built-in chapter navigation for e-readers and screen readers OKF Export — package your notes and their Note Log history into a portable, open bundle. Nothing AI-generated inside — every word is yours Git: Your repository, your history — what leaves is an intentional commit Commit message editor — attach your Note Log entries directly to the commit Git sync keeps your OKF bundle structure intact No tracking. No login. No server. No AI enrichment. No lock-in. Just your intent and your words. https://markitdown.reduktion.dev/index.html #### Previously on Mark It Down… v2.3.0 — A dedicated table editor arrived (Grid Editing). Launch it from the command palette or the table's own toolbar. Select columns or rows, then apply bold, italic, or code formatting all at once. Insert, align, and reorder — all a single click away. Undo and redo are supported too. Editing Markdown tables has never been easier. #### New on Mark It Down v2.3.1 — More reliable rendering, calmer busy states, and smoother large notes. Math and Mermaid code blocks now render correctly on first load. Large notes and Mermaid-heavy notes stay responsive sooner while background work continues. Sync, save, re-extract, import, and RSS fetch states now show small semantic activity indicators. Auto-hide chrome, Focus Mode, and side panels stay available during resize, drag, and panel transitions. The writing surface feels quieter, steadier, and less likely to get in your way.
